"Sayonara Umihara Kawase+" Hits PS Vita in North America on April 21

Agatsuma Entertainment schedules digital PS Vita launch

After first coming to 3DS in the west as Yumi's Odd Odyssey, the next stop for Sayonara Umihara Kawase is PS Vita. Agatsuma Entertainment announced an official release date, lining up the enhanced Sayonara Umihara Kawase+ for an April 21 launch in North America.

The North American release will be digital only. Japan and Asia will follow with boxed and digital versions on April 23, and a digital European release is expected soon after.

As previously reported, the PS Vita version packs in the original Super Famicom game that started the series back in 1994. Sayonara Umihara Kawase+ also runs at 60 frames per second and features new and reimagined classic stages, new enemy placements, global time ranking, bonus features, and more levels available to unlock after completing the game.

Agatsuma's synopsis:

Completely re-worked for the PlayStation Vita, play as `Umihara Kawase` - a 20 year old backpacking Japanese sushi chef armed with a fishing rod, a rubber fishing line and a fishing hook. Avoid fish-like enemies, conveyer belts, spikes, watery pits, time travel and more. The deeper in to this dream-like game players venture, the more challenging the solutions and the greater the time pressure becomes. Along the way, look out for shortcuts and secret exits and unlock bonus levels.
