Sword legend action manga ran for ten volumes from 1982 to 1983
The official Twitter for the Saint Seiya franchise confirmed on June 19 that "an important announcement" from the manga author Masami Kurumada will be made in the next September 2019 issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine to be released in Japan on July 19, 2019. Its tagline is "Beyond the time, the wind of hope will blow again."
At the same time, Kurumada posted more hints about his new project, including some rough sketches, on his official blog. He says, "Though this the first drawing in 37 years, I feel very confident." His comment and the images clearly suggest that his new project will be a sequel, a reboot, or a spin-off of one of his early works, Fuma no Kojiro.
Following the very successful Ring ni Kakero (1977-1981/25 volumes), Fuma no Kojiro was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from January 1982 to December 1983, then compiled in ten tankobon volumes. It was adapted into a 13-episode OVA from 1989 to 1992, a 13-episode live-action TV drama in 2007, and a stage musical by the TV drama cast in the following year.
