Video game makers thank the fans for their support on Twitter
FROMSOFTWARE, the makers of video games such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the Armored Core series, have announced that the popular "Souls" series of dark fantasy / action RPG video games has surpassed 27 million copies sold worldwide. The announcement was made via the official FROMSOFTWARE Twitter feed:
DARK SOULSシリーズの累計販売本数が2,700万本を突破いたしました。たくさんの方々にプレイしていただき、大変光栄です。皆さんにまた楽しんでいただけるよう、新作タイトルを開発しておりますので、ご期待いただければ幸いです。 pic.twitter.com/utwl6Se97J— FROMSOFTWARE (@fromsoftware_pr) May 19, 2020
The 27 million plus sales figure includes sales of both physical and digital copies of Dark Souls (2011), Dark Souls II (2014), Dark Souls III (2016), and Dark Souls: Remastered (2018).
The announcement thanks the fans for their support and asks them to look forward to FROMSOFTWARE's next project, which presumably refers to Elden Ring, a game that is being written and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls) with world-building by George R.R. Martin (A Song of Fire and Ice) and co-production by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
