*Updated* Wits and Cunning / A Nuanced Version of the Fate Franchise
While the concept of a Battle Royale and a wish is far from novel, as long as the art, the characters, the fights, the psychology, and the strategy blow your mind, that's all you really need in this genre. We watch shows like these to satiate the monster within us all. Battles, bullets, bloodbaths, boobs, and brains. It has become apparent to me that the inner dialogue of a character precedes ...

Thank God - had to wait to long for a good new anime series this year
Nice to see some good anime after a long drought. Good animation, story, can't wait for more. Sure beats the harem, high school, childish anime that seems to be an absurd commonality lately. I know it is way better than Yuri on Ice. But, hell, a billboard for diapers is better than yuri on ice.

    You will be hook!!!!
I love this show. I got hooked immediately. I can't wait for the next episodes! It is absolutely wonderful how the hook you with the story line of each of the warriors. Then when you think you know who is going to win this thing and why, everything changes!

Enjoyable, but showing too much of it's hand.
Up to episode 3, Juni Taisen offers a somewhat predictable take on the battle royale format that manages to be fun and engaging...so far. While the somewhat rough art lends itself to some great animation, the show's greatest weakness is its format and pacing. Each episode takes the perspective of a new character, and unfortunately whoever put together the ED thought it'd be a great idea to spoil ...

Wasn't quite sure how I felt at first, but by the end of Episode 1 count me as HOOKED!
At first glance I thought to myself, another contemporary setting, filled with guns, gore and violence, yee-hoo. But, intriguing plot-line that had alot of movement right off the bat coupled with intense character development had me hooked! I love the concept of a zodiac fight to the death concept, as I am still trying to figure out what exactly it is all about besides a grand prize of a wish ...

    Has potential but...
Doesn't allow us to like any of the characters because they literally kill them right after telling us about them. We also know little about the setting. If this was 24 episodes and the characters had more personality, it could've been a great anime.

An anime with an interesting concept executed in a way that undermines itself completely.
Juni Taisen should be a good anime, but why is it not? Because it's predictable to an astounding fault in as little as 3 episodes. You begin to suspect it by the second. By the third episode your suspicions are confirmed. You can identify which character is going to die by simply asking three questions in the following order.

1: Did the anime focus on a particular character more than the ...

    Potential is there...
With all honesty it took me about one full episode and a little bit to get into this. It wasn't until I saw Rooster's episode that I truly became curious about what kind of hidden talents the other members may have. Rooster's talent was rather impressive. I am still unclear about how far Monkey and Rat's alliance will go but the only thing I would appreciate in this series would be a bit of a ...

*UPDATED* We will see how this plays out.
UPDATE AFTER FINISHING SHOW [spoiler, duh.] = This show fell off completely and became incredibly predictable with a disappointing ending. New score of 2/5.

[4/5] *Careful for the first three episode spoilers!* I know a lot of people have been comparing this to Fate/Stay and I get it, but in its own way it is a little bit different. The route this show has been following is closer to Akame Ga ...

Hard to Have Stakes with No Investment
One of the things that drives a good narrative is tension. You are shown characters, you get emotionally invested in them, and they are put in danger. This creates tension and generally makes a story more enjoyable. For all its action, gore, duplicity, and mystique, Juni Taisen has no tension. none. zero. The show never gives the audience a lasting character to root for. Every time we get some ...
