    An artistic achievement with surreal emotional weight
    So this series is a 2008 cult classic, directed by Masaaki Yuasa (now most famously known for directing Devilman Crybaby) and animated by studio Madhouse. It has a unique animation style that's somewhere half-way between a more Western animation style and the sorta' "sketchy anime look" that many animes had in the 2000s.     Same director as Devilman Crybaby, somehow even more insane.
    A Masaaki Yuasa original and one of his most imaginative works. It's got great visual world-building with few exposition dumps, interesting and complex characters, and a story that will blow your mind (just as soon as you can figure out wth is going on).
