  • An amazing show to watch
This is by far my favorite anime this season. The plot doesn't seem to move forward at an incredible speed. But that doesn't detract from the enjoyment because its character development is continuously flowing nonstop and is beautiful to watch. The art is also pretty great.

  • A really well done adaptation of the story
This anime is based off a manga that's been running for quite some time. I find the art unique, and while the female characters are definitely cute, the animation as a whole is beautiful. The show is able to portray Rei, the protagonist, and his depression rather seriously without going overboard. The show goes with how he gets on with his life after a rather messed up childhood. I'd have to ...

  • Sweet, Sour and Fresh
Although a first glance might suggest that this is another comfy slice of life type show, it is not whatsoever. The way this anime changes gear from macabre to hiccups to little joys is streamlined enough to drag you along while keeping that element of unpredictability to surprise you. (The lightning simile in episode 8 is truly captivating).

Between a screenplay walking a thin line between ...

  • Intoxicating and full of heart
Such a beautiful show full of incredible scenery and landscapes. Hard hitting with every emotion and just a brilliant portrayal of loneliness and rebuilding one's spirit. Love the originality of the concept and after watching it, it was all I could think about. Dark at times but a heartwarming contrast fills almost every scene. One of the best anime's of this year!

Sometimes, they actually get it right
There is not much that needs to be said that explains why this show is so great and deserving of 5 stars. The characters, like actual human beings, can not be completely summarized by their stereotype. Do they fit in to their mold a lot of the time? Of course they do, but shy people do speak and feel comfortable eventually, motherly people can fail at being motherly, smart kids can be pretty dumb ...

so boring, i wish i could have gotten farther
We gave it 3 episodes, didn't connect with the characters much. Seemed like a tragedy for tragedy's sake.

Maybe someday we'll give it a second chance but it just felt tedious and I really didn't feel bad for the main character who it seems like we're supposed to feel sorry for.

    I was actually very interested...
I was actually very interested during the first few minutes: great sound effects; awesome scenes; and suspenseful, too (the graphics, although, are more-or-less average, I would say.). I liked it how it began throwing hints as to what and who the main character is, his occupation, his mysterious past, and his family. As some of these unfolded, I even felt as if I was a looking at my reflection ...

Your Lie In March (A little bit)
Joking aside, the show initially felt like Your Lie in April but with shogi: both star a young prodigy who has some heavy emotional baggage but learns to be happier little by little.

Now, I do like the animation. The character design is unique, specifically with the eyes, and the backgrounds, while sketchy and rough, are stylized and fit in with the characters. There are a variety of styles ...

    Good storyline, Poor graphic execution
I really enjoy the story of the show; the characters are well developed, the plot moves along at a reasonable pace, and it's relatable- which can be said of nearly any "slice of life" sub-genred anime.
The blow to it comes from the artwork. It does have that grainy look to it, and facial expressions (especially the smiles...ugh) are just horrendous. It's deliberate, but that doesn't make up for ...

    not my kind of anime
it not like i didn't like the anime. for me it was just too slow for me. i really thought that i would like it but nothing happened in the anime. it felt like from the first episode that i started on the 5 episode there was to many open ended things in it too early on. i was supposed to feel connected to a character that i didn't know who talks to much. i just did not like it.
