  • A truly hard hitting and great story
For me I was a little off put by the show at first, just for the soul reason that the plot centers around a young shogi personal. However, the fact I did not know anything about how shogi is played did not matter one bit in my enjoyment of this series. Shaft, with it's signature head tilts comes through with some of the best animation to really drive home the emotion this series cares. And for me ...

  • This is a Masterwork
When people belittle anime -- especially the episodic variety -- please direct their attention to this quiet gem. This is the kind of art that anime can achieve. Like any great story -- think of a novel, perhaps -- you arrive at the end with a bittersweet mix of grief for it being over and done, yet profound gratitude for having experienced it.

I can honestly say that I am a better, different ...

  • Probably One Of My Favorite Anime
This was a beautiful original story that was very relatable. I didn't think that I would like the second season as much as I liked the first one but I did. It covers so many topics that a person can experience from middle school to young adulthood through its variety of characters. I recommend this show to people who are just getting into anime and otakus alike.

  • Dont sleep on this show
There are so many people that quickly write of this show just because of its Shogi aspect, but it is so much more than that. Honestly this show has some of the best writing I have seen and is probably my favorite anime/manga.The first few episodes can be rough and people tend to disregard it because they find it too depressing, but you have to understand Kiriyama's depression so you can truly ...

  • #125. Tired in Tokyo.
After reaching professional status in middle school, Rei Kiriyama is now known as a elite in the world of shogi. It’s not all that glimmers though, he faces a terrifying amount of pressure, and already suffers with crippling anxiety from the shogi community and his adoptive family. Deciding to escape the stress at home, he rents a apartment in Tokyo, living on his own at the age of seventeen, and ...

  • A personal review on 3-gatsu no Lionis
3-gatsu no Lionis one of the best anime at displaying the heavy and dark topics such depredation, loneliness and the unknown. Described depredation like an intense pressure of being submerged drowning and suffocation. The art style is quite unique changing with the atmosphere of the character's feeling in each scene. Becoming almost abstract when the MC is in a dark mood and giving of a warm ...

  • Chill anime to watch
When I get tired of watching anime that are full of action, I always go to this anime and it fulfills me. It gets me emotional and seeing characters going through real-life problems is captivating. Also, I love how they include food and shogi as a way of escaping reality for at least a moment.

  • The seasons pass, shogi remains the same
89 "Chapters" in, and I'm super depressed that it doesn't look like a third season is coming. While the show's cast of characters orbits around the main protagonist, unlike many series, each individual is given sufficient time to grow and breathe, in long, patient arcs. Also the animation is just spectacular and original, particularly towards the end... again, season 3 please.

  • Just became one of my favorite anime.
This show is one of the greatest anime I have seen in a while. I'm a sucker for slice of life and stumbled upon this gem. This show just hits the right spot of comedy and drama, as well as the realistic hardships that comes in our life. I relate the most to Rei and Hina, pinching lots of attributes between the two that makes me realize that I connect to them the most, both in experience and way of ...
