  • A lighthearted drama with twists, fluff, and astonishing animation.
Get ready for a realistic roller-coaster of a kid searching for what he is missing.

It has drama, fluff, and great animation to keep the viewers heart in edge. It definitely is one of the best shows to come out in the last two year.

Overall, I'd say it deserves more than 5 stars. But then again the beauty and feel of this show depends on who's watching.

  • Best Character Development
I feel like I'm part of these characters lives. They show realistic growth, and it's hard not to get attached to them. The anime itself is paced pretty slowly, but in this case it suits the storyline perfectly. I look forward to a new episode every week.

  • Life is hard but with help it much easy
This anime is not just about shogi game which is amazing because the anime give us the inside world of a gamer of shogi such as how the player feel after they face a defect or how they do to improve to reach their goal. But the anime also talk about depression, bullying and loneliness because today in modern year there is a lot of young people out there that are suffering one of this issues. It is ...

    Brilliant storytelling
UnbeliavBle storytelling that treats real issues as real issues. Characters are multidimensional and bring a respect for the subject matter

If you are heasitant id say go for it as no other show has this attention to detail and fantastic writing in it

Something that is not for anyone.
This is one of my first animes that I had ever watched and I saw it when it was on air. At first I thought it was boring, but when you continue watching if you pay attention you will see its an awesome story. Very sentimental and for me it is realistic. Season 2 is by far ( in my opinion ) better than the first season.

    It's.... way too good....
    It's.... way too good....

That's all I can think of right now. The fact that it stays so true to life with utterly-realistic characters and scenarios, and yet is so fantastically fun to watch and easily the best part of my Saturdays, is beyond me.

Many themes are touched on in this seemingly innocent series, from depression, isolation, and tragedy, to bonds, friendship, and family. ...

    Strong character development
I watched 33 episodes in 3 days. I really enjoyed it. Great character development. It realistically touches some serious issues like bullying in school. As episodes progress, the characters mature too. Target audience are probably Middle school/High school teenagers but adults can enjoy it too!

    Surprisingly Better Than the Manga
This had been on my reading list for a while, but since I recently got premium I remembered it had an anime and decided to watch that first. The first episode or two I kept telling myself that I was probably only going to stick with it for a few episodes and that it was 'just ok'. Twenty episodes later I realized how naïve I had been. The anime does not only live up to the manga, I personally ...

A gripping story that's relaxing to watch and leaves you warm and fuzzy
The art and music are what initially got me to watch but you quickly fall in love with the characters. Rei has a lot of challenges in life and is used to never asking for help and dealing with things on his own but the show beautifully shows how he very slowly begins to trust and rely on other people and vice versa. I wouldn't call it a roller coaster of emotions but more like you're watching the ...

    Brilliant storytelling
Never thought I'd joy a show like this so much. The attention to detail and writing are a masterclass In anime. The writer does not beat a character trait of a character trait int you with yelling or repetition like shows like shonens do. If you want to learn more about these complex character all you have to do is watch listen and form an opinion about them just like real life
