I'm over 50 and snivel like a 5 year old
I just want to adopt everyone, even Gramps! Just to be the family these characters are struggling without. I could probably talk my wife into it I swear. They are all so wonderfull in their own way despite the tragedy they've suffered.

The writer behind this series is just bloody brilliant. The music always catches me, and kicks me along into the story. If you haven't watched this, grab a ...

    Requires no knowledge of Shogi
This is pretty much my favorite show ever! I highly recommend it; especially to anyone that has experience with depression (so pretty much everyone).

It is unbelievable how perfectly they capture and express the emotional ranges of all the characters (pain, loneliness, depression, fear, longing, excitement, appreciation, warmth, happiness, anger, everything). No show has ever made me ...

Emotional, Artistic, Deep, with a likable cast, contrasting the best & worst of life, with scenes that'll stick with you
It has an initial barrier to entry, being a sort of slow-paced show which on the surface is about shogi. I don't know about all of you, but I have never been particularly interested in shogi, but I decided to give this a try during the middle of the first season, and boy am I glad I did. This show is a wonderful exploration of humanity, both the best and worst of it, showing people at their worst, ...

  • The most heartfelt and heartwrenching anime.
March comes in like a lion is a beautiful anime with top notch and at times experimental animation, gorgeous music, well-written and interesting characters. And it goes to show maybe the best on screen depiction I've ever seen of depression and suffering with mental health issues.

When it's sad, it's gut-wrenching. At some times difficult to watch, if you've ever dealt with the same emotions as ...

  • Warning: Bring tissues
This is my favourite anime of all time. Every character is amazing, from Rei's sweet and considerate personality, Nikaido's loud and determined self which surprisingly didn't annoy me like it normally would, to Momo's ball of cuteness that makes me smile and 'awe' every time I see her. They all have their 'flaws' yet I can't help but sympathise and like them. They all truly make the show pleasant ...

  • Among the best anime I've seen
This show is an amazingly powerful and moving story about hardship, depression, love, family, friends. Truly all of the best and worst of life bundled together, and showcased for our viewing pleasure. I don't think I've ever seen another show that features such a roller coaster of emotions, and pulls it off so smoothly and organically.

It's not for the faint of heart, but is so rewarding if ...

  • One of the absolute best
I've been reading the manga for this for years and it is one of my favorites. The first season of the anime was fine, but they're really kicking it up in the second season. Part of that is that I think the source material gets better in the second season (manga really starts to hit its stride with the story arc the second season starts with) and they're doing a better job with the art direction. ...

perfectly balanced and engaging slice of life anime!
so-called "slice-of-life" anime tend to populate most of my favorites list and this is one is way up near the top.

the characters have mad depth, no real tropy stereotypes...the comedy is funny and necessary to break the tension because this one is most def all about the feels. nice art design and character design, appropriate soundtrack, and a very engaging story.

this is nominally about a ...

  • I can relate to the emotions
The animation gets me the most. The protagonist goes through many emotions that are deep. But the way the visual effects portray how he feels is what makes this show hit home. The animation team does an amazing job at making a visual for people to see how the emotions feel within us.
