  • Completely worth your time
An anime that does a lot with very little. It's had to find something in this medium that deals with day to day human emotions and issues like Sangatsu does. It takes a very sober look at issues like depression, abuse, and the tragedy of death. Don't misunderstand though - it also deals with happiness, growing up and moving on. In the end, it's about finding a place you can call home.

    Honestly, ...

  • Absolutely Perfect!!!
I cant even begin to describe why this show is a must watch. Aside from the beautiful art style and the perfect sound track the real draw is characters. This show has the most human characters I have ever seen in a show and I was genuinely moved by their experiences and how relate-able they were. 10/10 must watch.

Your Lie In March (A little bit)
Joking aside, the show initially felt like Your Lie in April but with shogi: both star a young prodigy who has some heavy emotional baggage but learns to be happier little by little.

Now, I do like the animation. The character design is unique, specifically with the eyes, and the backgrounds, while sketchy and rough, are stylized and fit in with the characters. There are a variety of styles ...

  • Simply Sublime. Thank you.
The most moving anime I've ever seen, it has sparked something inside of me that I never knew existed. This is just pure enlightenment. I will always treasure what it taught me. I'm going to constantly look back to this anime with utter joy, sadness and love. Just thank you Yukito Kizawa.

  • Honestly one of the most beautiful shows you will watch.
Personally, this show struck me harder emotionally than any other that I have watched. A better name for it would be "Bittersweet: Heart-wrenching episode after heart-wrenching episode". This is not to say the show is bad, as this emotional connection makes it incredibly compelling, especially if you are able to connect personally to Kiriyama Rei and his journey into adulthood. The first few ...

  • The Successor to Your Lie in April
Sangatsu No Lion is the successor to the popular series Your Lie in April, it contains allot of it's elements and has lots of the similarities to Your Lie in April well still managing to be unique in it's own way. How is Sangatsu No Lion different from Your Lie in April? Your Lie in April was focused on the love between characters and their emotions for each other well Sangatsu No Lion switches it ...

  • Beautiful & complex anime about much more than just Shogi
This show is one of the most captivating series I've watched in a while. At first the cover caught me, as it was very bright and cheerful, looked like a very uplifting and positive anime. It is all of that but much more relatable and heartbreaking than I could imagine. I never thought an anime "about Shogi" could encapsulate the harsh life of an independent teenager struggling to find his identity ...

  • A beautiful and somewhat relatable show
This show is so beautiful that it really transmits the feelings of the characters over every single scene, you'll feel sad or want to smile with them when their emotions are portrayed on the screen. Akiyuki Shinbo is working on this show, after all.

So you should watch it for the animation alone but the story is also beautiful. The way this show represents some mental scars/illnesses is ...
