  • This anime is well worth to watch (several times maybe :) )
This anime is just as great as Honey and Clover. It gives such an insight into a range of emotions and in the same time it gives a lot energy to the viewer. I really like how the author gently encourages people to find their place and open up to others and to things that seem difficult. It is a slow paced anime however it does make me want to watch more and the art is absolutely gorgeous. The plot ...

    Needs more relationship with girls.
This show was pretty good, I'm not gonna lie. However, I find myself very disappointed in it. I was hoping for the relationship between the main character and the girls to be the focus, but instead they put shogi as the focus. I feel like this show would have been so much better if they focused more on the girls.

  • The Great Feels trip of 2017
Watched the first episode because the title and art style reminded me of Your Lie In April and knowing how good that show was I wasn't expecting too much out of this one. However now that the first season has ended in my personal opinion I feel like March Comes In Like A Lion outperforms in every aspect.

The storytelling paces itself well, having gone back and read the manga the slow approach ...

  • The Best Anime of the Past Season
I am in love with this show. It's a tightrope walk balancing complex, conflicting emotions and moods. It's a train of thought that and takes you to directions you did not expect. It always leads to different sections of the same place: honesty, and not the cheap type where you say something rude or brash or contrarian. It's the well-thought-out, belabored, earned kind of honesty that makes this ...

  • March sure came in like a lion. So did my feels
I don't think i've ever watched or read anything that focused on character development more so than the plot, however i'm glad this was my first.
Beautiful character and relationship development. Beautiful art. Beautiful music. The OP and EDs are great too

This anime also gave those who followed its airing a real treat, with the new years episode matching new years as well as having the last ...

  • emotionally moving, intellectually satisfying
I will admit it feels like this anime starts a little slow. But if you hang in there you will find it is just setting the groundwork for complex relationships and issues. My only beef, and no one else would have this, is the simplistic attitude it has toward depression. (I am retired from a career in psychiatry, so I am picky). Other than that, there is more substance to this series than most. ...

  • Excellent Story, Great Pacing
The summary of the "About the show" section here on Crunchyroll doesn't do full justice to what is really an amazing story. I went into it thinking I was getting myself into a bit of a romantic comedy with a touch of tragedy.

But that isn't what this is. The characters are developed incredibly well. The art style is a bit different, but it totally suits the world it's in. The story is actually ...

Trying to find a place in the world.
The storyline defines a smart guy, bad with relationships, fighting to find his place in the world.

I would say is oriented towards adult viewers or late teenagers more than young folks. Some of the topics it handles, like awkwardness and self-reclusion are recursive in many animes, but this goes deeper in the character and presents them raw, with lots of contexts and emotional meaning.

    The ...

    Good storyline, Poor graphic execution
I really enjoy the story of the show; the characters are well developed, the plot moves along at a reasonable pace, and it's relatable- which can be said of nearly any "slice of life" sub-genred anime.
The blow to it comes from the artwork. It does have that grainy look to it, and facial expressions (especially the smiles...ugh) are just horrendous. It's deliberate, but that doesn't make up for ...

Fantastic shogi-themed anime, very well done.
March comes in like a Lion is, like all the other reviews both positive and negative, undeniably unique. It floats a shogi-themed version of the otherwise saturated TEEN ANGST POWER FANTASY LINKIN PARK BYAAAAAAA crap we see so often. Instead of tropey nonsense they juxtapose characters representing important emotions necessary for a melancholy professional teenage shogi player. My only gripe is ...
