different from the first series, but still stunning as ever!
i started watching this series of mushi-shi right after voraciously devouring the entirety of the first series, and there is a noticeable change in tone from one to the next. while the first series was extremely quiet and meditative, this one seems to focus a lot more on interpersonal relationships between people encountered by ginko, the main character. the story lines have much darker ...

A wonderful tribute OVA to an already stellar animation and manga series.
This 45-minute special definitely has the feel that it was made for the fans that have stuck it out over the years. There are multiple references and cameos from old characters (the most entertaining of all being Adashino, I'm sure none can argue), all very tastefully executed and without taking away from the main plot for this new chapter of Ginko's travels. When you compare the visual effects, ...

    Utterly Unique, Truly Fantastic
Slow, sleepy, quiet, calm, steady, an antithesis to so much of modern anime, and yet standing among its peers proudly. Mushi-shi is consistently clever and imaginative, and it has a lot to say without needing to yell. Some of the best writing and design in anime.

    MUSHI-SHI Appreciation: A Must Watch
I am an avid lover all most types of anime... One Piece, Fairy Tail, Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, Akame ga Kill, Sword Art Online, Fate/stay and plenty of others. If anything, take away that you'll enjoy this despite an anime preference. But this anime is closely related to my favorite anime movie as a child: Spirited Away and the creators Studio Ghibli.

    Replicating the feelings I had a ...

I've watched many Animes in my life, and Mushi-shi is the only Anime that has ever made me cry because of how deep the meaning and story was. Since Mushi-shi is Episodic it really differs it from other Animes, but still carries an effective story ...

A series that steadily grew on me
Mushi-shi is slow and episodic. This isn't a bad thing at all, in fact it fills a niche that a lot of other shows do not, which is something that's nice to watch as one relaxes. My original mindset with the show was to try and marathon it and I think that's the wrong approach. I think this show requires patience and a willingness to let the show flow how it will, rather than trying to absorb it ...

I walked ten thousand miles, ten thousand miles to see you...
Mushishi is quite possibly of one of the most unique series that I have ever encountered. It is classified as an occult detective fiction series, but I think a better classification of it is a paranormal historical drama. It is set between the Edo and Meiji periods, with technology of the 19th century but with Japan as still a country closed to foreign exchange. Rather than being a series that ...

    A Unique Masterpiece
THE MOST chilling, relaxing, engaging, deep and emotional anime ever made.
It is similar to Samurai Champloo in its chill vibes but instead of fighting-adventure, its a slice of life-spiritual adventure. It is not very comparable due to its uniqueness.
Watch the original series (also by funimation) before watching the one hour episodes on Crunchyroll.

    A nice taste of surrealism
The tone of this anime is a strongpoint. It's very mellow and very different from most other anime releases, so while it won't keep you on your toes waiting for the next episode, it keeps you yearning for that next fix of surrealist music, scenery, and plot.
