I am certainly in the minority with my opinions of this anime. The first couple seasons I really enjoyed but eventually it became rather predictable and bland, and then I stopped around episode 68. I believe it is overhyped. I should also add that I have not read the manga and do not know how far along the story itself is, which could greatly affect how I think of it.
Things I like about this anime are the many interesting characters with great designs and the shy protagonist, which is different for a shonen. When I first started watching it, I was impressed and surprised that I was able to enjoy a typical superhero-genre show.
However, there are things I do not like as much, which is why I gave it the rating I did. The characters, though they are all very cool and unique, don't have much depth to them. For the most part they are bland and haven't had much development, etc., except for the few main characters. The whole story itself uses tropes I have seen numerous times before. The thing I dislike the most is the good/bad hero and villain theme, which is obviously the main plot. There isn't a gray area like I think there should be, so it comes off a bit childish. The villains from what I have seen don't have any big or clear motivations as to why they do "bad" things. The only one that was understandable to me was Stain. The rest are just villains to be villains. The heroes for the most part are always "good" and win. It would be more interesting, in my opinion, for, say, the heroes to act as villains or mess up and vice versa. Or to see the main characters not always win and do "good." It has let me down in this area several times.
I do hope to see the story develop more and hopefully prove me wrong on some of these points, if it goes on for much longer! (If it is still young then I could see why some of my issues with it are present, and it could still have time to progress)

There's a lot of things I would like to say about MHA. Too bad that CR has a character limit, so I'm just gonna have to compress it as much as I can.

MHA has a great coming-of-age hero story that gives a good perspective of both the Heroes and Villains that can have fans choosing sides. Class 1-A, while some imho are still left out of the narrative too much and are irrelevant for a lot of the time, overall are a pretty fun main cast to follow. And Izuku Midoriya is a great main protagonist. Skip all the times he has to remind you that he wants to be the number one hero, and he's developing damn well after being exposed to the hero world more and more. Bakugo, though not having the most development out of all shonen rivals, has it. He's good.


Though I really do like MHA, I don't think it is / will be the best anime of all time. But it can become one of the big greats in time with the manga's current direction.

In summary: it's a great shonen with good characters and a brilliant ost.

Does an anime have to be completely original, to be a masterpiece? Should the story be unpredictable for it to be good?

I don't think so.
There is beauty in simplicity.

The portrayal of every single component of the specific fictional world is the most important point in creating a series.

Despite having your typical shounen, (young boy has a dream he wants to achieve so he has to overcome many obstacles on its way despite being an underdog in comparison to many other characters) this series does everything right so far. It does not try to hard with its plot, but still offers a big cast of interesting characters and a story where you can understand and share your feelings with the protagonist.

Reaching episode 34, this work woke my feels more than any other series I have seen yet. The solid art and the emotion generating sounds make a great deal of a this simple, yet for me perfect story.

I admit, I was extremely skeptical about this anime. I saw the 5 star reviews, I heard it was recommended by the creator of Naruto but when I saw the art and the first episode, I just didn't get it. I could not have been more wrong.

This is...Sky High (old movie some may remember) meets X-Men. Its an incredible story with great characters and although the animation isn't always the best, the fights are really fun to watch unfold.

The story is unfolding perfectly and character development is being handled expertly. I can't wait to watch more and I recommend this to anyone. An easy 5 Stars.

This getting a second season makes season one extremely worth it. The characters are all very intriguing and the action is great. There were multiple times when I watched this that I thought my heart would stop because it was so intense in places.

All of the characters are lovable. One character who I HATED when they first appeared grew to be one of my absolute favorites. The music, the animation, the story, the voice acting, absolutely everything, are wonderful and it's definitely worth giving a try.

I will warn you though. Episode 4 or 5 is where I really got hooked. Before then I was kind of meh so don't give up until after those episodes!
