Updated review: Fun anime, takes a bit to get better.
Update: This is written after 14 episodes.
I'll try to not spoil, but this might be a little hard to understand if you are just starting to watch the anime.
As always, please try to play the game. I suggest it as the actual 'dungeons' they go into are very elaborate and the anime isn't giving them justice. Also, there is a lot of story there that they might not go into.

    I am changing my ...

Too Broke to Play The Game?
I hate seeing all of these "just play the game!" comments. I understand that the game is probably so much better than the anime, but some of us are too broke to play the game! The show's good if you haven't played the game, but I think most of the magic of the show would be out shined by the game. The show's still good, but some characters don't get enough screen time.

Don't give up after 1 episode!
Starting off this reminds me greatly of Persona 4 the Animation. When it comes to working with the source material, it's pacing is different, but that isn't a bad thing at all. The Persona games are long games with a ton of content so pacing has to be different or the show would never end like Naruto. The first episode gives roughly the same amount of information about the plot and story as the ...

Edited following episode 2. They were holding out on us!
Okay, THAT'S more like it. I don't know why Aniplex was holding out on us for the first episode! I don't know, maybe the production studio didn't have all the team together for the first ep? It's weird, but episode 2 takes a MASSIVE jump in production quality.
The Persona series, and ESPECIALLY Persona 5 have been known for having awesome art direction, style, and album-worthy music... and while ...

I can't wait for SP2: Stars and Ours!
As said in the title, I finished this series in March, and I can't wait for SP2. I finished this a couple of minutes ago, to be specific.

I loved the plot and the colorful cast of characters. One thing that confused me was how Ann's codename became Panther then changed to Queen.

Either way, this anime was extremely addictive, and with its game (Game as in the core, or idea, not the ...

    Just play the game...
I'm two episodes in and not very impressed. Disappointing as this is one of the better games I've ever played.

It's overly strict to the game, which makes it seem somehow rigid. The mostly silent protagonist angle doesn't work as well in a show, and the animation isn't much of a step up at all from what you see playing Persona 5.

    Not perfect, but good enough
Compared to the game, p5A is rather lackluster in its execution of several sub-plots especially non-party member confidants. However, I will admit that the animation did have some positive things and memorable moments that the game did not focus on. There weren't that many but still there.

Well, at least, Joker actually got to say some lines?

If you have played the game, this animation ...

    Just play the actual game
This anime is nothing but a worse done version of a game's story that is at least 10x more enjoyable by playing the actual game itself; whose graphics, animations, and character building are all far superior to this.
This is just a waste of time...

  • Not in the Slightest Disappointed
Ok, so maybe the criticism I saw here about the fight scenes was valid, yet they still were in a different context than any other anime I've seen. It's probably a bit talky, too, but it's real, and warm and human. If I was in high school seeing this, it would give me hope for the future.

  • Loved the game, loving this too!
I adored playing the P5 game so much, currently working on our NG+. I'm so glad with how they've taken things and I hope for more OVAs! The voice acting is awesome and I love seeing all the little details and foreshadowing that you can pick up on if you've played the game.
