    A very disappointing adaptation
There is no reason at all to watch this anime, so long as the game still exists.

Given the history of Persona anime adaptations I went into Persona 5 the Animation with tempered expectations. However, I was still hopeful that the anime would turn out to be a decent alternative to replaying the entire game over just to enjoy the story again. Sadly this anime adaptation misses the mark and ...

  • 3 stars for the art and idea
3 stars for the art and idea...the rest feels like an old anime with very slow and bad action. After 5 episodes, I still can't watch anymore,
I found it pretty boring, too bad, I wanted to like it.

Why are we forced to write long reviews here!!???

  • Such an awesome anime :)
Whhhyy does this show have such a low rating!? I'd never heard of it until the Crunchyroll persona quiz was posted. The results made me curious about the anime so I looked it up. Usually I won't watch anything less than 4.5 stars but I am really glad I chose this one. With an original plot, this anime is definitely one to indulge. The way it is put together keeps it very interesting. It doesn't ...

If you really don't have the time to play the game, or watch a let's-play...
Persona 5 is an amazing game with an amazing story, and I believe it is something that everyone should experience at least once simply for how relevant it is and always will be. However, this review is not about that game. This adaptation tries to make itself as much like the game as possible, for better or for worse. Multiple gameplay elements, such as the random encounters and the all-out attack ...

  • Game Fanservice With Flair
The persona series of animes, at least three, four and five, are above average animes, in general, without having played the games. However, if you have had the privilege to play the games, these are a delight to watch. Persona 5 is one of the best Persona games I have played and I am hoping that this series surpasses 4 as a stand-alone anime. So far, the Persona 5 team have been cramming 10s ...

  • Needs to Work on Pacing
As someone that played P5 for 200+ hours:

    Pro

Music: faithful to the game plus the opening theme song is done by same artist as the game music. Honestly, the music is one of the things I enjoyed most about playing Persona 5.

Plot: Sticks to game plot with some new scenes. Nice to see other things besides those rehashed in game.

Cons or Stuff that Needs Work:

    Pacing: ...

  • Not for Those Who Played the Game (As of Episode 11)
Let me get this out first: This is not for people who played the game, or those who plan on playing it. Since Persona 5 is a Play Station exclusive, not everyone will have the ability to "just play the game."

Now, coming off of that, let's talk about the show, Persona 5: The Summary.

Story: The first 4 episodes are poorly paced, making this a confused, jumbled mess that starts to ...

  • Did we really need an anime adaption?
Truth be told, I love this game series but the animation is... stale at best.

Persona 5 is a great game and a unique experienced that can only be conveyed in that format. This animated series for it felt rushed and incomplete in storytelling and while it did have great visuals-- it was not enough to convince me to keep following the series. A lot of the character relationship felt 'fake' in ...

  • Like watching the game on 10x speed
The anime isn't bad, but as others have pointed out its pacing is off, i.e. fast and a bit choppy, compared to the game. I would recommend the gaming experience, and maybe enjoy the anime as just an adaption, but NOT as a substitute.

One thing I do like about the show, though, is that it does retain the main plot well enough and even improves on it a bit. More specifically, it makes a certain ...

  • Hard to recommend unless you don't have a PS4
Like it says, it's hard to recommend people watch this unless they just can't play the game for some reason. Like any adaption of this nature, it's really hard to actually adapt a game (especially an RPG) into a show in a pretty much 1:1 way without it feeling redundant. You take the element of player agency which drives the plot and makes things compelling in the game only to replace it ...
