  • It took a while to get going for me...
I will just say "Wow". You should watch this. I started this 3 or 4 different times typically late at night, usually puttering out in the 2nd episode. The animation and drawing is wildly different from what I'm used to from other sports anime; it almost feels like FLCL at times. It's a little bit about ping pong and a lot about life and growing up.

I'm late to the game but this anime was worth the wait
Okay so, I'm sports anime trash. Haikyuu is my fave, but I've seen a lot of them, and sports anime is by far my favorite genre. I'd heard this anime was good, but I never got around to watching it for what, four years? Oops. Anyway, I figured I'd give it a go since like I said, I adore sports anime, and once I saw the five star rating I had high hopes for this show.

    I was not ...

  • Another Masaaki Yuasa Classic
If you liked Kaiba, The Tatami Galaxy, and Devilman Crybaby, you will like this. While each series has a different flavor, the distinct style of director Masaaki Yuasa is very apparent. If one were to label the series variety with a color, Devilman Crybaby would be a dark purple, pessimistic and violent. However, Ping Pong the Animation would be sunbeam yellow, ...

  • I can barely stand the animation style, but the story is amazing
I have difficulty watching things that are older or poorly animated, but this show does it on purpose. It pulls it off rather amazingly too. I came back to watch the ending again because it was just that good. I recommend this to anyone who can get over the animation, and maybe even those who can't.

  • Amazing ping pong stuff going on here
The animation is siick. It's like nothing I've seen before. That's what instantly hooked me. But the quality of writing is some of the best I've seen. Each character is so beautifully developed; in every line you can feel the weight of a character's entire, complex emotional system. The show just keeps getting better as it goes on.

  • An amazing show for those who want insight into sport paychology
I discovered this show on recommendation from a member of the FGC, and it lived up to the amazing review he gave to me. This is an amazing show by its own right, and is made even more impactful if you consider the different focuses and character development of the cast. This show is a beautiful example of how the approach you take with a sport, activity, or anything you want to dedicate yourself ...

    This is my 372nd Rewatch
After my 372nd rewatch, I finally decided to write a 5 star review. The reason that this took me so long is that every time I went to write this review, I just ended up watching the first episode again and the cycle didn't break until my laptop charger burned out from charging 2306.4 hours in a row. So now I'm here to toot the golden anime horn before my laptop dies. There's a reason this show is ...
