Two new cast members have been revealed for Ahiru no Sora, an upcoming TV anime based on the sports manga by Takeshi Hinata about a small but passionate player who aims to turn a high school basketball club full of goons and delinquents into a winning team. The next cast members (pictured above, from left to right) include:
- Kazuya Nakai as Shinichi Chiba, the captain of the rival Shinmaruko High School basketball club, who plays in the center position.
- And Soma Saito as Tokitaka Tokiwa, the ace player of the Shinmaruko High School basketball club, who plays in the point guard position.
The story of Ahiru no Sora follows protagonist Sora Kurumatani, a high school student who loves basketball even though he is only 149 centimeters (about 4'11") tall. After entering Kuzuryu High, Sora tries to join the basketball club to fulfill a promise to his mother and to win his first tournament in high school, but the club is dominated by punks and is no condition to compete. Encouraged by Sora's passion, they gradually dedicate themselves to the sport.
The original Ahiru no Sora manga is serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The TV anime is directed by Keizou Kusakawa and Shingo Tamaki and features animation production by Diomedéa. Ahiru no Sora will broadcast in Japan beginning in October of 2019.
