Tsutomu Hanabusa (Kakegurui)-directed adaptation hits Japanese theaters May 29
The official website for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of Kenji Inoue (story) and Kimitake Yoshioka (art)'s seinen manga Grand Blue has posted a 30-second teaser trailer to introduce its two main cast: 26-year-old Ryo Ryusei (Daigo Kiryu/ Kyoryu Red in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger) as Iori Kitahara and 25-year-old Atsuhiro Inukai (Sento Kiryu/Kamen Rider Build in Kamen Rider Build) as Kohei Imamura. For some reason, the two are completely naked, running through the university campus in the clip.
The scuba diving-themed manga has been serialized in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon since April 2014 and has released 14 tankobon volumes with a total print run of 4.4 million copies. The live-action film adaptation is written/directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa (Sadako 3D, Heroine Shikkaku, Kakegurui), and is set to be released in Japan on May 29, 2020.
