Final Fantasy VII Remake Pushes Past 5 Million Copies Sold Worldwide

That's a whole lot of Chocobos found!

5 million people around the world couldn't wait to return to Midgar and play as Cloud Strife as he tried and stops Shinra all while being surrounded by some of the best-looking people in video games (himself included of course). The Japanese Final Fantasy VII Remake Twitter account announced on August 7 that the game has passed 5 million copies sold around the world.

The 5 million copies sold include both the physical release and the digital version, which by itself was downloaded over 2 million times since the Remake was released on April 10. The original Final Fantasy VII, which came out in 1997 and re-released several times, has sold an estimated 12.6 million copies worldwide in the 23 years since it released.

Fans of the game are no doubt itching to keep playing the Remake series, but it'll be a little while longer as development on the next game in the series is being done remotely.
