The official website for the trilogy anime film project based on Shuichi Shigeno's street car racing manga Initial D today announced that the second chapter titled Shin Gekijo-ban Initial D: Legend 2-Tousou- ("闘走 Tousou" literally means Battle Run) will be released in Japan on May 23, 2015, with its teaser visual featuring GT-R racing on the public road in midnight.

The first chapter of the trilogy, Legend 1-Kakusei (Awakening)- was released simultaneously in Japan and Taiwan on August 23. It debuted 11th in the Japanese weekend box office earning 31,176,831 yen. The Blu-ray disc of the film will be available in Japan on December 26.
