Another Studio Ghibli Co-Founder Steps Up As Miyazaki Aggressively Declines To Draw "Totoro" Line Stamps

Yeah, as you might imagine from his past ambivalence or outright disdain for tech, Hayao Miyazaki was not enthusiastic about the process of creating work for messenger service Line

Studio Ghibli co-founder, former president, and producer Toshio Suzuki is often the one who offers the narrative of what happens at the revered anime production house. According to him (and Line's blog), the conversation went something like this...

Toshio Suzuki: "How about some LINE stamps?"

Hayao Miyazaki: "Stamps? like postage?"

TS: "Not quite... Miya-san, do you want to draw them?"

HM: "Not a chance!"

TS: "Oh, if it can't be helped... I'll draw them."

Yeah, as you might imagine from his past ambivalence or outright disdain for tech, Hayao Miyazaki was not enthusiastic about the process of creating work for messenger service Line.

However, thanks for Toshio Suzuki's open-mindedness and illustrations, there's now a set of My Neighbor Totoro stamps, available internationally.
