The Wise Grandson TV Anime Casts a Spell in New Key Visual

More cast members and Japanese TV schedule revealed for upcoming adaptation of fantasy light novel series


A new key visual (above), new cast members, and the Japanese TV schedule have been revealed for The Wise Grandson (known as Kenja no Mago in Japan), an upcoming TV anime based on the series of fantasy light novels written by Tsuyoshi Yoshioka and illustrated by Seiji Kikuchi about a young man who is reincarnated in another world with great magical ability but poor common sense.


The new cast members for The Wise Grandson include:



Miyu Kubota as Alice Corner.



Arisa Shida as Thor von Fregel.



Megumi Yamaguchi as Rin Hughes.



Juri Nagatsuma as Yuri Carlton.



Chiaki Kobayashi as Tony Freed.



Keisuke Kōmoto as Julius von Littenheim.



Shōta Hayama as Mark Bean.



Saya Satou as Olivia Stone.



Virtual Youtuber Nanami Ikusei as Miranda Foleres.



And Virtual Youtuber Maya Hinanogi as May von Earlshide.



The original Kenja no Mago light novels are published in Japan by Enterbrain (a division of Kadokawa) under their Famitsu Bunko imprint. The story follows Shin Wolford, a young man who was originally from Japan, but who was reborn with his memories intact in a magical world, where he was adopted and raised as the grandson of the great sage Merlin Wolford. Unfortunately, Shin was raised in isolation and Merlin forgot to teach him basic common sense...



The Wise Grandson TV anime is directed by Masafumi Tamura and features animation production by SILVER LINK. The series will broadcast in Japan according to the following TV schedule:

  • AT-X: every Wednesday during the 23:30 time slot beginning on April 10, 2019.
  • Asahi Broadcasting Corporation: every Wednesday during the 26:20 time slot beginning on April 10, 2019.
  • Tokyo MX: every Thursday during the 23:30 time slot beginning on April 11, 2019.
  • BS11: every Thursday during the 23:30 time slot beginning on April 11, 2019.
  • d Anime Store: every Wednesday during the 24:00 time slot beginning on April 10, 2019.


Please note that some Japanese TV schedules count early-morning programming as late-night programming of the previous day, so for example the 26:20 time slot one Wednesday evening is actually on Thursday morning at 2:20 AM JST.
