    Magical girls given new light
Magical girl anime are usually a topic few discuss anywhere.Good reason too- we're all too embarrassed about it. The thing is though, I can bet that 90% of hard-core anime watchers love a good magical girl anime. It's just that since Cardcaptors there hasn't really been a great magical girl anime to talk about. Enter Madoka Magica.

Everyone knows the premise to this anime- it's been shoved in ...

A Very Untraditional Magical Girl Anime
Originally I thought this show would be another magic girl anime. Upon the recommendation of several friends, I finally decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was far from what I had expected it to be. The plot, the characters and story movement were perfect with almost no filler. It was an excellent series and I knocked it out in a day. Highly ...

So you think you know MG?
Disclaimer: this is my first review.
TL;DR: Good anime, worth the watch, don't look stuff up beforehand.

Shortly after PMMM/MSMM was released I started seeing fanart for it. I was not terribly impressed with the show's animation style from the previews but the fanart piqued my interest.
I am well acquainted with the mahou shoujo genre and expected it to be a typical shoujo anime; happy, ...

Forget everything you ever knew about Magical Girl anime.
There's really only one way to describe Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Not your typical magical girl anime.

Madoka is a 12 episode series that was originally screened on TV in Japan from January 7th to April 22nd 2011 (note: the final two episodes were delayed due to the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami) before being picked up by Aniplex for a US DVD release Valentines Day 2012 followed by a UK ...

Excellent anime. I can't find a single flaw.
Admittedly, I did not think I was going to like Puella Magi Madoka Magica (called PMMM from here on out.) I thought it would be some generic magical girl anime devoid of a consistent plot and riddled with cliches. I was wrong. So very wrong.

This anime is about a fourteen year-old Madoka Kamane who, along with her best friend Sayaka Miki, finds a cat-like creature named Kyubey. Kyubey gives the ...

    A Surprise Five Star!
I had heard about Madoka Magica for some time before I finally watched it, of course I heard nothing, but great things about it. Like most seem to agree, the first couple episodes are a little slow and as an adult male I had to question my sexuality for a moment. FINALLY after a few episodes, *Vulgar Language* hit the fan and I was treated to a wonderful anime. All I can say is I am a sucker for a ...

    A Genre-Redefining Masterpiece!
In a bizarre dream, kindly fourteen year old Madoka Kaname (voiced by Aoi Yuki) glimpses an apocalyptic battle between a brave magical girl and a world-threatening evil entity, overseen by a weird cat-like magical creature called Kyubey (Emiri Kato). As the magical girl plummets to her doom above the crumbling city, Kyubey tells Madoka only she has the power to save the world. At school the next ...

Redefined a genre, became a genre.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica was the perfect storm of 2011. It was placed at the right season, it used an immense amount of resources, and was completely successful. Madoka Magica is a piece that will hook even those anti-girl anime fans. First of all, I have to say that it completely redefined a genre and gave it a whole new different (and more appealing) look. Backed by insane animation and visual ...

One of the must see animes of recent years
If you're asking whether or not you should check out Madoka, the answer is yes! It's a short, but sweet series that really has a lot more to say than the cutesy art would make you think. It does get a bit dark as the story progresses, and it is intended for adults despite the main characters being middle school aged girls. The music is great, the art is astounding, and the story will keep you ...
