  • A whole different take on Magical Girls
Not your average Magical Girl story, Puella Magi Madoka explores the same themes you'd expect of a Magical Girl Anime, but pushes them to a whole different level, as well as adding layers of grit one might not expect from the almost sickeningly sweet costumes and the adorably creepy Kyubey (sp) Give it to episode three at least before writing it off as just another magical girl series.

  • My favorite anime <3
This has got to be the greatest one season anime in existance. Right up there with Elfen Lied, this is an instant classic. Don't be fooled by the cutesy, girlygirly beginning. This is a DRAMA and will get serious right around the end to episode three. This is a masterpiece; at the least.

  • Madoka Magica: All My Feels
It's been almost a year since I was first told to watch Madoka and I'm really pissed at myself for not watching it sooner. The animation and audio alone were spectacular. The plot throws your mind for quite the loop.
And only 12 episodes makes it easy to watch in a day if you really wanted to.

    Dark, Intriguing, Tragic
Don't be fooled by the cutsey characters and whimsy art style: this show is definitely NOT your typical magical girl series. What starts as a semi-typical magical girl shoujo series quickly becomes something far more dark and sinister. This show WILL make you sad, but in my opinion that's why I love it.

The storyline isn't too deep and doesn't really get going until episode 6 or 7, but after ...

    Looks Can Be Deceiving
Can being a magical girl always be filled with love, happiness, frills and joy?

No - and that is what makes Madoka Magica such a great series.

There are many (myself included) who are avid fans of magical girl shows. However, there's always that overly syrupy moral/theme added with predictable storylines along with repetitive monster battles in every episode. Madoka Magica has none of that. ...

  • Love or Hate the Magical Girl - You'll love this anime
Going into this show, I knew it was a deconstruction of the typical magical girl genre. All of my friends had told me that this anime "wasn't like others," and not to let "looks deceive me." But as someone who happens to love the magical girl genre, I wasn't sure what to expect. Would it turn tropes on their heads, or would it just make fun of something that I held close to my heart? I was ...

Such a good show if you stick with it
As I'm sure everyone else is saying, watch this show if you like a dark (even disturbing), well thought-out drama. First looks are deceiving in this series and you really need to watch through 3 episodes to really get a feel for the series. It's rare that an anime takes it's time twisting the audience through a myriad of emotions before hitting them with the real crux of the story. And it makes ...
