Live-action adaptation of Rensuke Oshikiri's manga of bullying and revenge hits theaters in Japan on April 07, 2018
A new movie poster has been revealed for Misumisou ("Liverleaf"), an upcoming live-action film adaptation of Rensuke Oshikiri's manga about bullying and bloody revenge in a small rural town in Japan.
The story of Misumisou follows Haruka Nozaki, a middle-school student who transfers to a new school when her family moves to a small town as a result of her father's work. There Haruka encounters horrific bullying, and since the school will be closing in 2 months after the last class graduates, no one is willing to step in to help her.
Haruka's parents eventually pull her out of school, but after Haruka leaves, another girl named Rumi Sayama becomes the target of the bullies' wrath. Rumi blames Haruka for her ill treatment, and her resentment eventually touches off a shocking and gruesome tragedy of violent revenge.
Originally serialized in Bunkasha's Horror M magazine, Misumisou is also published in a 2-volume omnibus edition by Futabasha. The Misumisou live-action film is directed by Eisuke Naito and stars Anna Yamada, Hiroya Shimizu, and Seina Nakata. The film hits theaters in Japan on April 07, 2018.
