The 20th Dragon Ball film has become the third top-grossing Japanese animation film in North America
already surpassed the 100 million dollar mark by February 3, 2019. The 20th Dragon Ball film was
released in Japan on December 14, 2018.
As reported, the 100-minute film has earned 3,895,569,200 yen from the 3,009,730 tickets sales in
Japan in 53 days since its release. It has become the top-grossing film in the 33-year-old Dragon Ball
anime franchise, breaking the previous record of 3.74 billion yen marked by Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection
'F' in 2015.
In North America, it was released in 1,238 theaters on January 16, 2019, and has earned 30,031,318
US dollars. Now it has become the third top-grossing Japanese animation film, behind only Pokemon:
The First Movie (1999/$85,744,662) and Pokemon: The Movie 2000 (2000/$43,758,684).
In addition to the countries in Latin America and Southeast Asia, it is scheduled to be released in France,
Italy, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and more countries/regions soon.
