All of the original staff members and performers are set to return
The official website for the stage play adaptation of Natsuki Kizu's boys love manga given announced today that it is, thankfully, rescheduled for November 2021. It was originally set for August and September of this year, but all performance were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All of the original staff members and performers are set to return. The site writes, "Receiving enthusiastic support from everyone, the stage play 'given' is decided to be performed in November 2021! Over the next year, we will continue to build up band practice and others. Please stay tuned."
One of the reasons why the play is rescheduled, though once canceled, may be the ongoing commercial and critical success of the anime film. As reported, the given anime film, which is a sequel to the 11-episode TV anime, has already sold 100,000 tickets and has dominated the mini-theater ranking's No.1 spot for four consecutive weeks since its release.
The stage play is directed by Fumiya Matsuzaki, who recently worked on the stage play adaptation of Children of the Whales (2016), Tekkonkinkreet (2018), and Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (2019). Yuniko Ayana, who served as the series composition writer for the TV anime series, provides a script. Its main cast members were chosen in the audition, and they will actually sing and perform the rock tunes on the stage.
