  • Amazingly fun start!
Samurai Flamenco starts off as almost a parody of a tokusatsu hero show with all the silly monologues and choreography that entails. It takes an almost thoughtful look at how heroes of this genre might come about, and function in a normal wolrd to humorous and occasionally face palming affect. Then the world sort of goes sideways when super villains and kaiju start appearing for the hero to fight ...

Like Kick-Ass with a Side of Power Rangers
So Samurai Flamenco had me scratching my head for the first couple of episodes. I didn't understand why I was taking the time to even watch. Then, out of nowhere, this show takes off like a freaking rocket ship. By episode 10 I felt like a little kid on Saturday morning watching cartoons. Great sense of nostalgia about this show that is hard to find anywhere else. If you have always wanted to ...

Silly yet serious all at once
When things took a sudden turn I was ready for the worst, but so far Samurai Flamenco continues to deliver. It can get dark and serious without losing it's overall hopeful tone. Capping that off is the simple fact that these are heroes without giant robots or military ties. Suddenly things which become standard in superhero shows and movies are a real challenge when all you've got is ...

Character driven story about a wannabe hero? Count me in
Recently, Zack Snyder tried to take the most idealistic superhero and put him into a realistic world. This show has a realistic world that also has an idealistic "superhero". The idea is certainly clever. An average nineteen-year-old tries to be just like his heroes by taking down petty criminals. It's more about the characters than it is about the actual superhero aspect. We get to see how our ...

A truely unique show. Definitely watch without any prior knowledge.
    Watch it.

This is a must watch. DO NOT RESEARCH THIS SHOW. You will enjoy some aspect of it, guarantee. This show is far more enjoyable going in blind.

Can't really think of anything else to write, but I will re-iterate, you should watch this show. At least the first 10 episodes.

    Boring unlikeable characters
Couldn't make it past first episode, characters were bland and story has slow pacing. If they can't engage me in the first episode, how do they expect me to stay interested the whole season? All I kind of got a hero anime vibe from the episode, but the story definitely does not exhibit any of the attractive traits I expect in one.

    Trash Lords from HELL
This show was developed by down syndrome babies. The main character is fucking retarded like the rest of the cast from this show then it litterally turns into fucking power rangers like fuck............................................................

This is much deeper than I thought,
than what you'd expect from a normal straight-forward anime, even it sets out with that tone in the first few episodes.

Quite a lot of people were complaining about what comes beyond Episode 6, but I beg to differ. 7-22 were totally logical, necessary, and well-paced in terms of what the anime wants to bring to the table.

This is a sophisticated piece of art that strikes a glamorous balance ...

Please don't make a second season
The first 6 episodes were great, they were more realistic yes but I really just liked the whole average guy becomes the underdog theme. After episode 7, the show jumped around way too much in both theme and plot. Also, Masayoshi is way too selfish for a protagonist. Speaking of characters, there's a few unresolved things, like Masayoshi's relationship with his assistant or ...

    Great characters, but moronic story
I find myself sad when I think about what this anime could've been. I loved the idea of a hero with no real supervillains to fight and thus had to make due with petty crimes. I liked the idea of him "leveling up" and maybe taking on crime syndicates or something, then the guillotine gorilla showed up. They took all the good drama, conflicts, and characters and just ruined it by having them fight ...
