  • Amazing short watch!
I don't know what captivates me about this anime so much... but I love it. The art is great, it's colorful and expressive... I think it conveys the emotions of how workers feel really well too. I mean, I've definitely gone through some of the emotions in this show at work! I would definitely recommend this for anyone to watch.

  • Retail be like that sometimes
Honda-san strikes very close to my heart, as someone who has gone through the grind of the retail machine, I could defiantly relate a whole lot to the characters of this show. From Honda-san's anxiety to pick up the phone to sitting through absolutely draining training seminars, this show hits the nail on the head of the retail experience.

The art direction is great, the comedy is top notch, ...

  • Easy going and fun show
Very relaxing and fun, entertaining show - different pace and topic from other series, so I would recommend to anyone. Short episodes make it easy to follow or marathon, nice window into Japanese culture or bookstore culture - Give it a try! Give it a try! Give it a try! Give it a try! Give it a try! Give it a try!

  • Inspired look at the rigors of retail life. Faceless folks with real personality
When this hit the list I was wondering how this could be of interest. I have never worked in a store of any kind - how could this speak to me?

In the end I was pleasantly surprised by the storylines. They were snappy instances of intensity in an otherwise mundane setting.

The most interesting part was the use of masks or other instruments to obscure the features of the characters. The only ...

  • A Wonderful Little Show
Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san is something anyone who has ever worked retail can relate to, it's funny, it's heartwarming, and it's a short one to watch (12 min episodes). The art style and animation can throw a curveball the first two or three episodes, but the comedic timing is great with it.

It's a fun show, watch it when you're bummed out or just looking for a laugh.

  • #255. Retail horror stories for your entertainment!
Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san is a short form anime about the daily worries of a bookstore worker. With a simple art style, and an over-exaggerated presentation of retail work scenarios, Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san is packed with charm and comedy. Bonus points if you have knowledge of popular names within the Japanese book industry, since novel and manga names are dropped frequently with a ...

  • Absolutely Hilarious
The episodes are quick-witted and to-the-point, filled with hilarious caricatures of book-lovers and their enablers. In particular the foreigners who visit Honda's bookstore are hilarious, especially the gratuitous English of Japanese voice actors doing impressions of weebs.

  • This anime is very refreshing and a joy.
I am very much on board with the concept of this anime; Honda-San is a very likeable character. The drawing style is vast and hops between serious and semi-joking in a way that feels both natural yet jarring in an amusing way. The topics are true to life in retail, on top of being charming, witty, and heartwarming in their own ways.

I would recommend this anime to people wanting to look for ...

  • Shitty job? Watch this show.
This show makes my soul happy. I love how Honda-san looks as dead on the outside as I feel on the inside some days at work. The first half of the first episode was a little slow, but after the second half of that episode (about Yaoi girls) I was hooked. Line and sinker. Throw money at the screen, give me more, annoying people talking about how they should watch it. My cheeks consistently hurt ...
