  • A nicely paced story
Is this a ground breaking original, No.

Is this going down in history as a classic that should be beholden, No.

Is this a nice story that gets to the point and is easy to absorb, Yes.

This fills a 20 minute void in reality, adequately.

Disregard the elitist reviewers. The Episode ratings are 4-5 Stars throughout.

  • It's an Isekai! ...kinda.
Overall, it's an Isekai. If you're looking for a power trip fantasy, it's got some of that. Everything works out for the main character, randomly, because of course. I can't really identify with the character, and I felt like the show rips off other Isekai shows, but the art can be decent. Many of the action scenes are barely animated, and it seems like they went out of their way to avoid doing ...

  • decent isekai focused more on historical politics
8th is a decent isekai adapting yet another series of light novels, this time with a focus on historical politics and intrigue. The MC named Well is OP as with many other isekai fantasy shows, but this time his power really only gets his feet in the door. It was nice to see a standard OP isekai protag in more realistic situations where is powers would be of little use.

    That said, this ...

  • It was too rushed and very short on story
I wanted to like this --I really did. The first episode was really good. Here you have a grown man returned to a little boy. If they had stayed with that for longer than two episodes, then this show really could have gone somewhere. It seems like they were so much in a rush to get him to the magical "anime" age that they skipped over all the story building that would have made him a believable ...

  • Could have been so much better
This has a great premise as an anime. Another isekai anime starting at the bottom rising to the top with main character being OP with Magic. It started off well but then it just felt rushed and jump here and there. The main storyline through the seasons was not really clear and new characters were introduced without any real character development. Also, it starts off as an isekai, but it ...

  • Formulaic, slightly frustrating.
So, you probably don't expect shakespeare from something with this title anyway, no surprise there.

The animation was, okay, but not great. The writing was frankly a bit sub-par, I assume they were writing for younger children where that sort of thing slides by.

It's a well tried Iskai formula, and suffers also from typical wish fulfillment fantasy tropes, without quite enough ...

OP Protag Is OP, And Sometimes That's Enough
This is not a perfect show by any stretch of the imagination. It is an isekai that presents possible advantages (being able to read as a 5 year old in a world where apparently no one can read) but does not capitalize on them. There is a bit of political intrigue that is, at best, muddled. And the entire supporting cast lacks any real tension or drama.

HOWEVER, this show gives me major ...

  • A series that insists on handicapping itself
    Edit
Episode 11 is where it gets good. It angers me that it wasted so much time and potential.

    Good:
A comfortable fantasy world that hints at a large space while keeping things fairly tightly "in frame" for us to be able to digest comfortably.
The supporting characters have believable motivations in terms of the world. I found them to be diverse, realistic and thematically ...

  • Isekai written after watching Game of Thrones
There's a lot going on here. Layers of politics and many different players; a complex history of fallen empires and gender politics and the order and the injustice of feudal aristocracy...

And it all gets paid little mind and is often dropped or left unexplained or forgotten as the hero bubmles on. I really do think that someone watched/read A Song of Ice and Fire (aka Game of Thrones) and ...

Lived in Japan for two years
Japanese people idolize the rich and corporate shareholders have more privileges and usually are deferred to for absolutely no reason at all. There are many Japanese cartoons about heroes who come from rich and sheltered environments who develop god-like powers or make everyone around them swoon as if they were the Beatles. There are many long broadcasts produced by NHK that are all about wealthy ...
