Generic Isekai, but no real character struggle
I think the idea behind this is great, (does not really need to be isekai), but the problem is that Wendel has no struggles at all, money, renown and even learning magic comes very easily to him. It references him being a loner for 7 years or whatever and him having poor social skills but this is just for comedy. Where he had to purge his master, that was supposed to be suspenseful, but we knew ...

    Bad, but not unwatchable.
On the off chance you haven't seen an isekai before, this is an isekai: normal guy (very occasionally girl) gets transported into another world, where he gains incredible magical power and just sort of coasts through the life on easy mode from that point on. There are some notable exceptions, but most of it is along those lines - pure escapism without much tension or character development.

    8th ...

Better than it deserves to be
Will The 8th son? Are you kidding me? become a smash hit in anime and be remembered for years to come? No.

Is it a decent seasonal anime? Yes.

The world the are building is pretty good, and the writing is better than it has any right to be.

The comments about it "Not needing to be another isekai" are, IMO, false.

The reason? You can't have the setup of not knowing the social ...

    Another Generic Isekai Power Fantasy
This is about the most generic isekai that's ever died and been reborn into a fantasy world that I've ever seen.

Unfortunately for me, I'm addicted to these things so I'll be watching the entire thing regardless. It's not exactly bad. It keeps my attention, which is more than I can say about some other isekai COUGHISEKAICHEATMAGICIANCOUGH. But it's not exactly worth spending the time on ...

A Poorly Paced Series with no Clear Direction
8th Son is adapted from a Japanese novel and as such has much source material to draw from but in the hands of the anime's writers is wasted. While the first two episodes are well paced with coherent themes
, the subsequent episodes start to unravel. The main theme of each episode start to muddy. Episodes start to waste time ...

5 episodes in and enjoying it.
as of 5 episode in to the series...
The 8th son part makes the story interesting and the fantasy realm is typical sword and sorcery. The whole thing that he realizes he is from modern japan has little impact on story besides he misses soy sauce and horseradish. If the writer had dropped the whole from another world thing it would still be a fun fantasy anime. The main character is likeable and ...

    One star for the artstyle.
I will give this one, one star for the artstyle.
The artstyle is great and had huge potential.
But for someone who have read the manga i must say that this anime leaves out All the important details that made the manga good. Without the nice details its pretty much shit like this anime..... Details like how or what the magic bag is and how important it is, and much information about the house ...

I was happy at first? But
This is semi ok adaptation of one favorite light novel? But the animation is sub par and only plus are the designs of architect are better then some anime and they are some what faithful to the character design. Also the storytelling/ music and emotional scenes are rough and dry and don't pack a punch and fall flat. Inclusion I think is fine and I'll will keep reading the LN instead.

    Lazy, generic isekai trash
This show's premise is fine: Man wakes up to find that he's the eighth son of an impoverished noble. He has no prospects and must find his own way in the world. Seems okay.

Within five episodes he has unlimited magical power, a mansion, a harem, and infinite money.

Choppy animation, terrible pacing, and it's an isekai for no discernible reason other than "wow Japanese food is so much ...
