Anime of the Year Worthy Masterpiece
The Ancient Magus' Bride is a slow-paced drama documenting the journey of a young teenage girl as she struggles to adapt to a new life that she'd never thought to have. The storytelling is beautiful, invoking strong emotions at certain stages, yet there's just a perfect amount of comedy at times to lighten the mood.

I myself doubted that I'd be interested in such a slow-paced anime with a ...

    A Surreal Masterpiece
The creator of the manga said that she set this story in England because of the many fairy tales that take place their. She successfully created a new story that fits the nature of those surreal tales, and it has adapted very well to animation.

The combination of the beautiful and detailed art, emotional musical scores, amazing voice acting, and a properly leisured pace all combine to make an ...

Work of art, and certainly not in a bad way.
I'm 10 or 11 episodes in now, so I think I've had more than an appropriate amount of time to get the feel for this anime. It's hard for me to call this anime. The detail in the animation, the story, the direction, the music, the art, and every little detail thrown in absolutely lends its self to the idea that this is a work of art, carefully crafted by people who want to tell a beautiful story. ...

    Very entertaining, however...
This is a BEAUTIFULLY animated show, and i am extremely excited to see it progress, however i can't give it a perfect 5 due to the strange and confusing way the show itself is introduced, how backstory isn't really delved into until almost four episodes in, and how Magus seems to know everything that is happening but still allows Chise to make potentially dangerous mistakes that could get her hurt ...

I love this anime, it's an instant classic. I hope it never ends.
I'm in love with this show. I can't wait to learn more about Chise and the Thorn mage. It's so beautiful and I am tempted to buy the manga. I do however laugh at the way all the boobs are animated. Lol they're all like Jell-O in a flat bowl. ..........

I don't know whats happening but it's good.
[4.75/5] So I have no idea what is going on. This is a prequel to something along the line of the thorn mage. I watched the three part OVA series that was initially released and it was really well done. Though I did not have any background information or knowledge it still kept me interested in what was happening. There was not a lot of context given, but still managed to really keep me interested ...

Not my typical anime genre but close enough
I'm normally not into the drama or "a slice of life" type of animes which this does resemble in some ways; well this is not those.

I would say this is a mix of many genre done well. Dark horror themes, magical fantasy themes, romantic themes, slice of life themes, and some high on acid "what the fuck" themes. I love the art style and the story is intriguing. I really want to know more ...

Good, but probably not for someone who hasn't read the manga
The episode has a slow start - it's clearly meant as a supplement to the manga for those already familiar with the series. However, at about 2/3 of the way through, it starts to pick up, and I'm definitely curious to see where it goes in the remaining two episodes.

Elias isn't quite as I imagined him while reading the manga, but Chise is nearly perfect - both the animation and the voice acting ...

An absolute gem in the anime world!!!
Not only is the show visually stimulating with the art style, but, the story line is one of a kind. It is well balanced between dark and light. Shows the cruelties of the world but yet still shows the sweetness of life. This series is not only realistic with human emotions but also portrays that non-human organisms don't think the same as we do. If you're looking for something that will keep you ...
