Visually beautiful anime designed to complement/ promote the manga but sadly not a series
When I first saw promotional trailers & imagery for this anime adaption I was under the impression that this would be a standard weekly series. Sadly, although this was not the case it is beautifully done both from an aesthetic perspective and in its interpretation of the story & characters. Definitely designed more to promote and complement the manga rather than as an alternative supplement, I'd ...

A prequel for a beautiful story
I may be a bit biased in my opinion, because I did read the manga, but do not let that deter you from watching this by itself. Reading the manga will add to the experience, but the show by itself is truly extraordinary. This is a prequel so if you're planning to read the manga, don't worry it won't reveal any major plot points. You see the main character's (Chise) backstory and how she acts around ...

  • critique of The Ancient Magus' Bride
It was a good story, though the transitions are sometimes hard to follow and the ending is more like a clifhanger or another beginning. Side note's aside I liked that the creative effort put into the story and the animation designs are well-done. I would recommend this anime to other anime fans.

  • A really beautiful show
Ancient Magus Bride has some really beautiful moments in both animation and story telling. Some aspects can start to get a bit repetitive but the characters are all so charming that even the "bad" ones are likeable. If you want some good emotional story this is good option.

  • #141. One of 2017's legendary anime.
Chise Hatori, an orphan girl abandoned by everyone in her life. Since her childhood, Chise has been able to see strange creatures, terrifying nightmares roam around her. Her discomfort and unrest lead her to being a unwanted child by all of her former caretakers, and she is now desperate. In a final effort to survive, she signs herself up for trade as a slave at a underground auction, as she ...

  • Fantstic lore and complex characters
Finally an anime that does make magic out to be some gimmicky thing. This actually follows more around the actual Wiccan and Pagan view of magick and the lore of it. Such as the Lord and Lady of the forest and celebrating Yule. Making the fae creatures far more accurate then Disney renditions. I'm also satisfied with the story and the complexity of the characters. All of them represent different ...

  • Romantic but with a twist
I loved The Ancient Magus Bride. It had multidimensional character development for both Chise and Elias. If you watch the first episode, and compare it with the last few, you can see that throughout the series there was a clear development between the both of them. It's funny, lighthearted yet somehow badass and serious, and heart-grabbingly romantic. While their relationship is strange, and ...

  • This has everything I wished for and more.
For a while now, I have been kinda sick of fantasy anime, in the style they protrayed magic and the setting in general, everything was pretty lackluster, the same over and over again, and the magic lost its "magic". And the last one is the most important one, magic in other series feels like it has no proper meaning behind it when casted.

This series on the other hand, does it incredible well, ...

  • Ancient Magus Bride: Why the Hype?
So, we all know how Wit Studio's masterwork took the world by storm back in 2017. It seemed like everyone wanted to talk about Magus Bride and all they had to say was positive things! Being animated by the same Studio as Kabaneri and the Iron Fortress, as well as Attack on Titan, we knew the studio was capable of some fantastic animation, and was great at making a show a hit, but would the show ...
