  • Absurdly beautiful, top grade music
Every now and then I find a piece of art that I call "something special". Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt", the music video "Starlight Brigade", the Miyazaki films, and a few others. I put this show in that category.
The artwork is second to none, the music incredible, and you can't help but project yourself onto the characters.

  • Truly a masterpiece.
This has to be one of the better animes ive watched. A powerful story with an ending that brought me to tears yes, but didnt have me lying in them afterwards for hours on end. i truly enjoyed this and am grateful for the writer and the people who brought it to life.

  • An Absolutely Amazing Movie
The Place Promised In Our Early Days is an absolute masterpiece when it comes to developing atmosphere and creating believable, likeable characters. I felt chills though out the last part. I would highly recommend this movie for a slow afternoon, when you have the time to sit and watch.

  • Best served before you watch Your Name
Not saying the two movies are really that similar, but still I could feel there was a similar mind behind.
There's some little imperfection in the plot (some choices seem forced) but aside of that good.

Also - not sure why CR has decided to split the film in 4 parts..

  • Great Art, Story, and Soundtrack
"The Place Promised In Our Early Days" is a movie that, on Crunchyroll, was broken into four parts. Written by Makoto Shinkai, whose made things like "Voices of a Distant Star", "5 Centimeters Per Second", and "The Garden of Words", "The Place Promised In Our Early Days" is a work that many people might over look because it starts off a bit confusing. If you like mysteries or being kept guessing ...

  • Saw the first episode then forgot about it for over a year
I'm sure this is a great show. I think if you like 5 cm per Second you would like this show.

But I watched the first episode, found it pretty slow and a bit dull. Figured it would pick up in the other episodes. That was over a year ago. I never managed to watch the other three episodes. I kept passing it up for other things and just lost all interest.

So 3 stars for being eh ok and ...

  • Not what I expected it to be like.
I thought it was going to have a bad plot, but when I actually went and watched it, it all made sense and came together really well. It touches my heart, the introduction rolls in very well, the tower was mysterious and it was suspenseful. I'm glad to have gone through the whole anime.

  • Well animated, emotional, atmospheric piece.
Beautiful colours and simple, relatable, realistic characters really make this a must-see. The story is romantic and nostalgic, and the atmosphere is astoundingly beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed this title, even friends that don't like anime in general enjoyed viewing this one.

Why can't I just rate 5 stars and be done with it?
I don't have words for how good this anime is. It's just good and I loved it. I liked how it was science fiction-y and the animation was nice. The story was good and full of drama but not the kind of drama that makes something hard to watch. The good drama that makes you want to watch it more.

Of characters rather than story, does this masterpiece follow
I can not express how I feel after having this experience of viewing this movie. There is no words to describe how incredibly well the story was told, and how far it had moved me. The first things that come to mind are not the problem at hand of the "Tower", nor is it the struggles between the two boys, but rather the connection and love that Hiroka and and Sayuri feel that goes beyond even what ...
