  • Oh great. Another puppet sh... what the hell???
Seriously, I only checked this out because it was mentioned by a YouTuber named Gigguk (absolutely good channel if you love anime). I thought "Hey, this is Gigguk, It impressed him, so why not?"

So I watched the first episode and, as other people are saying, between the choreography, the cinematography, the characterizations, the special effects, and the damn good voice-action, this show is ...

  • Absolutely brilliant
I don't write reviews unless the whole series impressed me.

The characters are great - very intelligent and you never really know who's-who.

The story is twisty and captivating. The artwork is fun and eye-catching. Nothing to complain about with this one.

  • Different, but really good.
One of those amazing shows that hasn't seemed to catch on. It's a well written wuxia that uses puppets instead of animation as the medium. Sadly, it seems not to have caught on as much as it should as it's not technically anime and so misses out on a lot of word of mouth. But watch it! It's really good. • Unexpectedly awesome
I started watching this for jokes one day out of boredom, but it quickly turned out to be one of my favourite series of all time. The development of both the characters and the story are 10/10. Love all the voice acting in it too. Really looking forward to the next season!

  • Stellar writing and characters beneath a layer of "foreignness"
The stories at the heart of a good anime can be appreciated by any culture, but some people think Japanese names sound funny and don't enjoy the visual exaggerations of Japanese animation. How many times have you suggested a great anime to a friend, only to have them turn it off because they couldn't look past the visuals that were strange to them?

Don't make the same mistake with Thunderbolt ...

  • Excellent Writing Keeps Interest High
This is one of the best-written programs that I have seen on Crunchyroll. The plot and character interactions progress at a rapid pace that keeps interest high. I am not particularly fond of the puppets, but that is a small price to pay for the excellent story,

  • Amazingly Complex and Full of Surprises!
A mysterious stranger, a beautiful Shrine Maiden, a tough Exile, a deadly Assassin, a legendary Archer, a spirited Warrior and a cunning Demon - An odd group of specific talents united under a common goal. This is the complex story that reveals the hidden nature of these incredible characters.

Wu Xia (武俠) is an eternal pillar of Chinese literature. Think of it as a Tapestry - an universe ...

  • Crazy action and insanely badass characters
I never write reviews, but I had to for this one. If you want something fresh and wild, this anime is for you. Sucks that every female character is either a villain or useless but they all look like ladies so i guess it's fine. The effects are bombastic, the fights are plentiful and insane, the character designs are needlessly detailed, everyone's posing for the camera at all times and I love it ...

  • Kick*** and full of spirit
Yes, Thunderbolt Fantasy displays some amazing puppetry and this makes it extremely fun to watch just for the artistry alone, but what makes it so good is that it doesn't need that. TF is amazing because it is a fantastic and lovingly crafted story full of eccentric and interesting characters, bombastic and exaggerated fight scenes, and some really solid void acting. Without any ...

Underhyped Awesomeness, Give it a chance.
Thunderbolt Fantasy is easily overlooked and way under-hyped. Its new and honestly I understand why westerns are not quick to try it, due to the doll like look of the puppets. But this series is so not your average puppet show. The story is well done in that its not too complicated to follow and has surprises along the way. There were moments when I did forget I was watching puppets and not ...
