Poor 1st episode; spoiled a lot of mystery from the original way too fast
To start on a positive note, Animation is of top quality. Fluid, well drawn, colorful, crisp, no jarringly obvious CG detected. Character design is faithful to the source material. Argument to be made that they could have preserved the original art style (which notably used some very somber, dark tones), but let's be real - carrying over handdrawn style is very rare with anime adaptations. It's a ...

Watch the 2nd Episode 1st... trust me
Before starting I saw a review that recommended I start from the 2nd episode and I decided to do just that. The first episode has a serious pacing problem as it's very rushed and I'd describe it as an "info-bomb" that didn't prepare itself very well. Watching the 2nd episode 1st remedies this by keeping the mystery intact by introducing us to one of the relatives of a main character. It's honestly ...

The combat is gritty. The story...
This is an early review that will need to be updated.
Significant violence and bloodshed throughout. Drawing and animation are good.

The plot in the first episode feels very front-loaded. They packed a whole lot of story into the first episode. While it was by no means bad, it felt oddly structured. The events took place at a breakneck pace. Some of what happens feels like it should be very ...

    Abandoned and boring
ASB is a story about soldiers who were given god-like powers and how they struggled after being returned to society. I was really looking forward to seeing how it would be adapted from it's manga. Honestly it's not worth watching.

First episode front loads all the exposition giving Hank a tragic backstory. It was honestly the weakest part of the manga and something that should have been told ...

It's not bad, rather it's good but not that good...
The introduction is about two nations that went through civil war due to economical disputes. These sacred beasts are experimental, biological weapon of destruction which gave them the upper hand in the war, however it has a downside of the unknown. The "technology" has side effects which affects the soul of it's user.

They messed up the initial story telling and character introduction. They ...

    bargain-bin furry anti-heroes
Didn't read the source material so I don't come into this one with rose-tinted glasses like a lot of the other reviewers. If you want a throw-away anime about furry war heroes who are betrayed by society, this is your jam. It's kind of like if you removed all of the things that made Golden Kamuy great (art, story, food), but made up for it by replacing the soldiers with furries. And you got the ...

Don't like the Order of the Anime
I noticed that a lot of people on here are agreeing on the fact that they don't like the order of story being presented here compared to the manga. I would agree on that statement. It's hard to give a rating to something that you know is adapted from a good story. However, I'm here to judge the anime. overall the animation is smooth for the most part. Nothing to complain about Studio Mappa who ...

    Has a lot of issues...
This show was a little interesting at first. Soldiers turning into pokemon that were OP as hell seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately whoever wrote the script for this had no idea what they were doing. So many things get glossed over and it's just not as interesting as it should be. You'd think monsters battling each other would be really intense, right? But instead they are just kind of ...

    Dull story with static characters
Episode 1 is an exposition dump and montage of characters we'll only really meet once slowly losing their humanity. The rest of the series is one off stories about a single character getting killed and what they were like before going to war. The main character, Schaal, should be learning that these creatures have completely lost their humanity and killing them is necessary but instead maintains ...

It gets better after Episode 1
I must admit the first episode felt rushed and felt like it had at least 2-3 episodes worth of content in it but it does get better from the first episode, the pace gets slower and it helps explain things better. The visuals are amazing and top notch. Just continue from the second episode and you won't be disappointed.
