Disgusting faux moralizing wrapped up in a weak plot.
This is what happens when an author tries to justify perverse societal norms and a lot of the fans can see through the giant gaping holes in their rationalizations.

In more detail, the "moral" metaphors in this anime are:
-Killing your own soldiers when they return from war is a good thing, because they're too harsh and inconvenient during peace time. In fact, they should just off themselves ...

Give it a chance, some of these reviews are ridiculous
Make it through the first 4 episodes I would say and the show does develop different dynamics other than the Hank must kill 1 beast a show thing. The animation is actually awesome, and there is not a character that I can say I dislike which is actually surprising. I rarely write reviews, and this may even be my first. I just think this show deserve a lil bit of love and nowhere near as much ...

  • It's Old Yeller and Where
And where the Red Fern Grows joined together and this is their Love Child! I give a four, a one from the beginning cause I didn't really like the concept behind it. But eh, it grew on me. It's like watching someone you want to care about and then watching them be put down in some *beeped* up manner.

    It's the Okayest Show Around
    First off READ THE MANGA
To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts commits something I like to call "The Author Surrogate Sin" where the character that we, the audience, are supposed to self-insert into as they learn about the world. The main girl is that character, in this adaptation, we already know the "things" she's just finding out so her profound observations come off more like she's ...

Watch people be betrayed and die.
I don't watch horror or tragedies for a reason and this is pretty much a horror tragedy. Thoroughly depressing and filled with people whose lives are destroyed over and over and end up dead. This is not a story of redemption, but a story of one tragedy after another, which I'm guessing ends with the protagonist dying, or worse, committing suicide because he knows that he can't stay or he'll ...

I enjoy this anime ....started off dry but It makes you want more as you go on.... plus the main antagonist is pretty sadistic ... the artwork is really good ... and the transformations are awesome..... there are some really emotional parts... I literally shed tears

    Dull story with static characters
Episode 1 is an exposition dump and montage of characters we'll only really meet once slowly losing their humanity. The rest of the series is one off stories about a single character getting killed and what they were like before going to war. The main character, Schaal, should be learning that these creatures have completely lost their humanity and killing them is necessary but instead maintains ...

    Episode 1 Sucked. Like bad.
Episode one had enough info to lead me to believe they could have built a 1st season out of what was going on throughout it. Really REALLY rushed. Now I stopped after that, so I'll give it three stars but to be entirely honest if THAT'S the best they can do, it probably deserves a 2, maybe a 1. But I have hope they can fix themselves lol

    Enjoyable, but not fresh
I was looking for something to keep me busy while waiting for new episodes of Demon Slayer. I decided to try ASB and found the first episode very enjoyable. The coolness of the special unit walking up to the fortress and wrecking it caught my attention, followed by the enjoyment of trying to identify the various mythological creatures. The double cross and reveal of the villain was predictable, ...

A heavy and depressing series, not for everyone
I absolutely adore this anime's art style and the character designs between the cast are pretty distinct! It definitely grabbed me in upon episode 1 and the reveal of the Incarnates' power but man- later down the line it quickly becomes mentally tiring to watch by the amount of despair and angst it has.

It's a promising how in the first few episodes with the introduction of Schaal and her ...
