    Remake of an old classic
For all those kids who are not aware yet. This is a remaster of an old show of the same name and definitely not a copy of Soma. (Back then, there's no moe, exploding undergarments or fan service... just pure cooking action) That show was of the first show that combined the elements of the shounen genre into an enjoyable cooking themed show. Hopefully this remake is as good if not better than the ...

A Classic Remake to an Original 97 Series
As I was outraged by seeing why there was a one star review, I shall post my very first CR review.

For those that instantaneously complain that this is a replication of Food Wars might need to get their facts checked. This series is well over two decades old. Original airing took place in 1997 with its name "Chūka Ichiban!".

This series has been in the shadows of my childhood as one of the ...

The cooking anime that inspired them all
An awesome reboot of the original Chuka Ichiban, one of the most pioneering cooking animes of it's time. It's a reboot of an old show of the same name. For those saying that it has elements that were trying to "copy" Shokugeki no Soma, this show was one of the first shows to really incorporate exagerrated effects and reactions into cooking that would later inspire animes like Shokugeki no Soma. ...

Easily one of my favorite shows.
This is pretty much the show that started all the cooking anime. I am glad to see them true to the series. The nice thing about this is the balance in reactions. They are a bit over the top but not nearly as absurd as you see in other shows. The dishes are also a lot more realistic than other shows.

Not good for those new to Chūka Ichiban.
Let me start off by saying that my review may have a bit of bias since this was the first cooking show I ever watched when I was 17 or 18 so it could be my nostalgia glasses speaking. that being said.

For a cooking show it is a great one that is wholesum in the fact that it doesn't try to use eye candy to draw you in. The art style is that of the original and is cleaned up a lot and for me it ...

Been forever mao. I missed you
when I was a young this came out and inspired me to pick up my knife to cook.
The manga artist carefully studied Chinese cooking as he drew out the manga.
Many of the food they have on the show are actual food existing in China. I am just confused as to why they would pick this episode for the first episode of the reboot. I loved the first original episode about mapo tofu and how his mother ...

    So far so good......
This was nice, and easy to watch. Decent story but predictable outcome. Doesn't mean it's bad, just predictable. Looking forward to the next episode!

  • Its a 2.5 star fictional show
When it comes to cooking animes, you have Toriko for a complete fantasy or Food Wars with accuracy (despite the clothing bursting off). This show feels more like a lie. Its fictional but not fantasy. While the "1st genners" insist this show is amazing, I just find it boring. No real cooking techniques nor is the fiction that great. Its a 2.5 star show. Its ok to watch but would leave people ...

    Bad Show Don't Watch
The show had some of the weakest characters and one of the weakest plots iv'e seen yet. It was so boring and had no exciting features in it. I could only watch three episodes before I got so bored I just left in the middle of episode four. Also is super chef the only name to think of for the best chef in the entire continent?
