  • It's cute but that's about it
The first few episodes of this anime are interesting enough but after that it's just more of the same. The series becomes stagnant and suddenly takes a turn and aims to be a harem and nothing more.

I'm currently on episode 11 and the only thing keeping me here is the way the girls react to yaoi books/imagined BL. That part is pretty hilarious...everything else though is bleh.

Skip this and go play the games instead
Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth, together, tell a complex, intricate story about a man finding his place in an unfamiliar world in which he is a foreigner. Along the way it addresses issues of war, political intrigue, romance, and personal identity, and it has amazing character development and crazy plot twists.

"The False Faces" is a rather poor adaptation of Mask of ...

  • Stick with the Games Please. Lets work on supporting so the future releases can get localized too.
Stick with the visual novel. As the Nostalgia Critic said in his The Last Airbender review: "You gotta make changes that make sense guys!"

The changes here imo hurt the plot and some characters.

Know too that the guy who directed SCHOOL DAYS directed this show too. Yeah, for a game that's main focus is well-written story with genuinely surprising twists and (mostly) fun slice-of-life, lets ...

  • Started as a great anime
The Anime started great and was good it was really funny to see a lazy person try to get by and have so much mystery to himself really good buy then it takes a turn that i could accept but then the F***ing ending comes and i hate what is happening in the ending it almost repeat Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann level where the hold anime is great and it have it's ups and downs but a hate it where the ...

  • It lives up to its predecessor's expectations
I saw the first Utamarerumono and loved it. This just continues the amazing storytelling that feels familiar but new at the same time. I enjoyed the characters interactions with Haku and how he slowly brings everyone together with out even trying. His carefree attitude ends up working in his favor because he surprises everyone with his capabilities. The expectation of others and not disappointing ...

  • Everyone wear's a mask
Every character has a mask. Symbolically or otherwise. It creates a cool experience as each character reveals who they "actually" are throughout the series. There are some slow parts, and the fast parts are entertaining. It's a bit of a Harem anime, however they replace the Harem experience by making the female characters like dude on dude porn. Which is a nice change from the "all we want is the ...

  • fantastic and cant wait for more!
the second part of my favorite series didnt disappoint but it may leave you bummed out in the end. i cant wait for what is supposed to be the 3rd and final installation of this series. the characters are fun and lovable, the story is well done, even with some of this stuff being a little fillerish, its not filler thats really unnecessary as it all seems to fill in small details of the story. you ...

  • Ignore the ratings, just check it out
Quite a few reviews are from 1-12 episodes in, the big action and all that doesn't really start till near the end. It is very harem-y compared to the first one, but it's not bad; just don't expect it to be exactly the same as the other. (Which you shouldn't, anyway?)

In my opinion, the first half of the show is made to "create memories" between characters, show the growing bonds between ...

    So Much Wasted Potential
Having enjoyed season 1 (which came out in 2006) I had high hopes for this series, which it did live up to for the first 2-3 episodes, but after that, this series quickly derailed. Characters weren't developed meaningfully, the plot stagnated quite often and when it did pick, was so disjointed that it left me confused, especially given the stunted character development. The series had so much ...

Go watch the first!! Skip the second
I love the original Utawarerumono, in fact it is one of my top 20 favorite anime. This letdown shares only its name and a few cameos from some of the characters in the first series. I really wish this series had even a spark of the magic that the first series had but all it has is some half baked comedy, a crappy protagonist, and a weak strung out story line. My recommendation is to not even ...
