One of the worst anime ever
This anime starts out alright as a Suikoden-like story with fighting against oppressors and stuff but turns into a horrible convoluted mess with weird Sci-Fi elements which just leave you behind wondering "wtf did I just watch". It seriously baffles me how anyone can consider this a classic or must-see anime. It's just bad and incoherent storytelling.

It looks and sounds like it'd be cool but...
This anime is pretty terrible early on. Though it seems like it could become interesting & might even get better, the quality is too low for me to continue (bailed after the 4 ep).

Its biggest flaw was its annoying characters. They just didn't act like how I'd expect humans to act. The main character was an oddly acting robot. For some weird reason, everyone basically treated him like an ...

  • Glad it's on Crunchyroll now! Ought to hold me over until the remake comes out.
I first got into this series by my brother's recommendation, he started with Mask of Deception, but then recommended to me to watch the original before moving onto the sequels. I did just that and watched this show and enjoyed it.

After playing Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth respectively, I came back and rewatched this show and ended up loving it far more than I originally did on my first ...

  • The classic original drama. (prequel to Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen).
If you loved Mask of Deception, you'll love the original just as much if not more. Several characters that had a cameo or small roles in Mask of Deception get much more play here.

The main character is an amnesiac (and shares the same name) who only wishes to live simply and the small village he wakes up seems ideal. Nonetheless he constantly finds himself drawn into a position of leadership ...

    Classic as f*** Must See
Seriously I never gave this show a chance but once I did i found myself lost in a world I can never escape which is pure love for everything Utawarerumono. False masks is newer and its lot of confusion if you don't watch this as this is the prequel and lot of the characters and situations are introduced here. Although false masks was very good and itll be interesting to see how everything ...

An Anime Classic, a must watch!
This is the prequel to Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen (Or Mask of Deception). If you were confused by Mask of Deception, this story explains everything and including some characters that made an appearance.

The main character is named Hakuoro, a man that as amnesia is found by the lovable Eruru. The story follows the world that Hakuoro lives in followed by incredible battles, humorous ...

    Ecstatic That It's Arrived!
This show is actually very good. I watched this back over 5-6 years ago, found out about it in a top anime list on Youtube and gave it a try. Boy, was I glad that I watched this! It has more depth , story and drama than False Faces ever did! Give it a try if you were so-so with False Faces or even loved it, because you'll surely love the original even more!

    Short summarization: Haku has ...

    Glad it's on Crunchyroll
When Utawarerumono The False Faces came out on Crunchyroll, I looked it up to see if anything came out before it, I was told it wasn't necessary to watch this beforehand but I went back and watched this anyway.

While the story's aren't really combined, I do feel there is some merit to watching this beforehand, and I tackled both back to back and I think that's the ideal watching ...
