Is this suppose to be comedy or action?

Genre: Action, Comedy, Ero
Overall:
This animation attempts to focus more on battle and action, but I find it all too amusing to watch as it lacks a plausible storyline and just appears to be random outbreak of fighting. It's hard for me decide if it is a fighting parody animation or not. On a side note, there are some minor ero scenes, such as unnecessary panty shots, groping, and skimpy outfits.

The pilot episode defines the pace and tone of the series takes perfectly. The story is about this school girl who is an amazing fighter beyond any measurable skill levels. Simply put, she is a monster that can seem to accomplish anything. Through out the series she'll encounter various types of fighters and battles, which seems all too spontaneous at times.

People who have watched or read series like Ikkitousen or Tenjho Tenge might find this series rather pale in comparison. As many of the characters in this series lacks any personality which might have made them interesting. I'll rate it at best a C anime.

Animation:
Animation is appears to have a early '90s style to it even though its a 2003 animation. The street fighting scenes is average and nothing really dazzling. It takes on more of a Street Fighter animation fighting style, which is still enjoyable to watch.

Air master has a unique style geared towards movement and while character design may put off intial viewers, it lends grace to the action sequences.
There is little more storyline than what's necessary to build up to fight scenes however the characters don't come off as shallow.
As far as music goes, the series suffers from extensive use of drum loops, but music is well timed and the themes follow context.
Air master does quite well as a fighting series and doesn't try to be much else. There are elements of comedy and melodrama but for the most part they stick to the whoopass.
If you can get beyond the character design it's well worth watching
(just not CR's version, horrible quality )

Can't say its one of my favorites

I started watching this last week and watching the first episode i really enjoyed it. The action was good, characters were typical characters you would see in any anime. The animation looked old but i didnt mind cuz i knew it was a old anime even though i saw people say it was made in 2003 the animation should look better but whatever. I liked every single character from next episode to nex episode with new fighters. But during the 3rd and fourth episodes. Mina and Renge got on my nerves to no end. Mina is the stupid, big boobs, rich, lesbian girl who cries all the time and says "Maki" atleast 10 times in each episode and thats mainly all she says. They make her booba bounce randomly for no reason and it got too much that i skipped into episodes when they show her. For Renge its the same. her japanese voice is horrible. Its like a 3 yr old that wants attention with that high pitched voice. And all of them are in high school so why the fuck is she a inch tall?!?!? The reast of the characters i didnt mind at all but about half way through the series i started to hate Maki cuz she always wins no matter what and every time she gets hit, knocked down and bleed and rejoice in happiness cuz honestly they put her at too much of a high level that no one could beat her except for the guy at the end or if they ganged up on her. If the other characters like the fighters werent in here the character rating would have been 1/2 or 1...maybe 2. Also i like the side characters (fighters) more than the main character and her friends.

Storyline was ok, a typical kinda fighting storyline. Music was ok i guess but used the same intro song in the anime which i didnt like too much cuz they used it too much. Animation was good. i liked how they showed the impact of the hits and swings.

Overall i would give this a 3 out of 5. At the end all i wanted to see was maki died or beaten so badly which happened not enough. In a anime and manga like this which is based on fighting the main character needs challenges and lose more than 2 or 3 times and train and come back stronger and win. The anime was too fast and didnt give room for development for characters like Shinnosuke. After 7 or 8 episodes they dont show him until the last episode when you see him staring down a tiger. I said that he wont see maki until hes strongger and i want to see how hes gotten stronger. He my favorite character and to dont show him is like ending bleach without showing someones bankai when throughout the whole anime they said my bankai is dangerous. I wouldnt tell people about this anime because it isnt worth watching unless i tell them certain episodes to watch.

If this were a RPG video game, it would be way too linear.

Minimal character development due to too many characters to cover in the number of episodes available. SOme funny moments, lots of action moments, and at least some unique (if ridiculous) fighting styles are presented. Random panty shots during action scenes make sense since she's doing flips in the air in a short skirt, but still off-putting when they're shown during serious (as in, not humorous) battles.

Amazing Action, but a bit disappointing story-wise.

While I continued on my adventure to watch all the anime in alphabetical order on CR I came across Air Master. A while back a friend showed me a scene from episode 5 and since then I've wanted to check it out at least once, and I'm glad I did. At first the animation really bugged me, the strange proportioned bodies had me staring at the first episode and wondering how anyone could watch this. As the anime continued and the first fighting scene came punching through; I was hooked! The small details they added and the choreography of the fight was astounding. I've seen plenty of fight/action anime and this one really tried to go all out to make those fight scenes all they could be. If you a fan of action then check this out! The characters are fan worthy even if some of them make you want to pull out your hair, but doesn't that just add to the charm? You'll always find people you just can't stand and those whom you'd love to take home with you. My only complaint was a very poorly executed ending. This anime had so much potential but at the end it seems to me they realized they had to end it and came up with something on the spot. I haven't read the manga so I can't say for sure if they followed true blue, but I can say I was very disappointed with the climax. Although I don't want that to stop you from watching! Definitely worth at least one go around. ;)

Fave Character: Saeki Shiro
Warning?: Plenty of Yaoi and Yuri elements & Potential Disappointing ending.
Status: Finished - 12/6/11
DVD Purchase Value: Moderate

...since I watched an anime this terrible. Nothing wrong with the animation, but just about everything else was either bad or intolerable. The sound was poor, characters were annoying, storyline was pretty much non-existant and no progress was made. At least anime like Kenichi had character progression and development.

I would not recommend this anime unless I did not like you.

The fact that Maki is a head taller than everyone was intriguing but it was her ability to fly and fight at the same time that kept my attention. I loved all the characters but Mina. Said to say but she truly got on my nerves. The fighting styles were all different, some a little out there and silly but I always loved watching them even if they were violent. Besides the fighting there was some great humor in the series. I have to say that is series is definitely one of my favorites. The only thing is the unanswered questions left at the end, oh and Maki hooking up with Julietta. I would have loved to have seen that!

Any hope for more? Please!

A strange, fun action anime

While I've heard some complaints about the character design, I personally found it gave a great deal more individuality to the characters then most animes, both in body types and facial features. As for the story, it really is a pretty standard tournament style action anime, with some comedy and a bit of character exploration thrown in to keep it interesting. And while its certainly not deep or dramatic in these respects it succeeds suprisingly well.
Despite being fast paced and straightforward in its action-plot trajectory, I found a number of the characters and their eccentricities hilarious and well developed. So when old characters beaten in previous matches returned later on it was often fun to see them again. Considering how often tournament stories throw out one-shot foes that are hastily forgotten, I thought this worth noting.
Overall I enjoyed this for being such a very strange and off-beat action anime. Its hard to explain, but I just found it very entertainingly odd in some ways. Not a work of genius, but certainly worth it if you like action.
Oh, and the fight scenes are wonderful!
