AKB0048

I finished all of AKB0048 a while ago, and I will say that I really like it (mostly because I'm very biased towards "Idol" animes [Love Live, IM@S etc.]).
I did not know about the real AKB before this anime, so I walked into it blind. I was confused for a while and had to put all of these aspects together in my head on my own (Ex, what a successor is and the whole trainee generations ). I assume that the creators expect you to know about AKB before watching the anime, so they didn't spend a whole bunch of time with explanations. If they actually did explain things, they explained them pretty far apart from each other (Ex. I didn't learn about the start of AKB [Akihabara] until I think season 2? ).
I found that the morals in some of the episodes were not quite clear, which was another problem I had with the whole story telling aspect. Mimori says at one point that Kanata should be more greedy and Makoto's episode is that she is reminded of the fact she's a failure, but her failures make other people feel more...proud of themselves? Again, quite hard (at least for me) to understand.
I also felt like the characters were not loved equally (If that makes sense). I mean that in each character's centered episode. To my memory, Linda and Sonata did not have centered episodes but the other girls did, which leaves quite a bit of their stories and personalities to be left in the shadows. The only knowledge I have of Linda's story comes from flashbacks showing her and her grandmother. The only things I know about Sonata is that she is the little sister of Kanata and that her father died.
I'm not to interested in things like mechas or Si-fi types of animes, but this seemingly odd mix of mechas and cute idols was very surprising. The plot is interesting and grabbed my attention.
The animation is very shiny and beautiful. I found it cute that every character is designed with hearts ( the shine in their hair and eyes ). I will say that at first the jumps from the regular animation and the dancing concert animations was a bit of a jump, but did not take long to get used to it. I should also bring up the fact that I cried the first time seeing the first opening because of all the girls crying. It was done so beautifully that literally a 3-5 second scene made me cry because of the emotion and beauty put into the characters.
The music is stunning and i became a fan of every song that was put into the anime.

I really enjoyed this anime. Though the story telling was not too great in my opinion, the animation, lovely characters and amazing songs made me laugh, cry and smile

An amazing anime with lots of emotional moments and great songs. There is a great story and every one of the characters have a lot of depth and humanity to them.

I hoped that we could see all of the successors a little more often to get to know them
as only the main successors had enough screen time. However, this is only a small complaint as the anime is all about the trainees.

Easily my favourite anime of 2013 so far. I recommend that anyone that is a fan of J-Pop or anime that follow a dream to watch this!

A heartwarming, dramatic and epic fan-service that's so filled with passion for the source material that, aligned with original characters and settings, is sure to capture the hearts of both die hard AKB48 fans and those who have never cared much about them.
While being a fan certainly increases your enjoyment of this show, it never relies on references to make its point. The original characters are likeable and relatable, grabbing newcomers and fans - who will also get to enjoy the characters based on AKB members. The plot moves fast and dramatically, making this one of those anime series with a colossal build up and a just as satisfying pay off. Out of 26 episodes, perhaps only a couple of them can be called fillers, and even they bring something new to the plot or help develop the characters a bit further. Prepare yourself to spend the entire series crying your heart out. Just as its plot, this series is covered with love and dedication. Beautiful orchestrated renditions of the group's biggest hits make the OST shine throughout the series.
I leave here, as one of those die hard AKB48 fans, my most sincere recommendation to both fellow fans and non-fans alike. This is one truly special anime.
A perfect 10 for AKB48 fans / a 9 out 10 for newcomers.

I suspect a lot of people are avoiding this show because they think it's just AKB48 animated. They couldn't be more wrong if that's so. While most of the songs, dance moves and idol culture come directly from the popular J-Pop group, the story is totally original.

There's a lot more as this show combines elements from sci-fi and a little political intrigue(entertainment bans aren't that unthinkable even in this world) to give us a highly emotional energy ride from start to finish. Because in this anime the girls we're following aren't just singing and dancing and following their dreams of stardom but freedom fighters often holding guerilla concerts in places entertainment has been banned.

Yep, one of the greatest anime of the season. I got hooked at episode 4 - that's when I fell in love to the songs. I tried to rewatch episode 1 after that, and for some reason everything felt different - I felt connected to the songs - in a big way! -_-

It probably will take a bit for others to "connect" to the show. I was addicted to Love Live Idol Project before I watch it. That might be why it took a while for me to come to love the show. Now, I consider it one of the best animes I've been waiting for every week.

I'll give it 10 stars if I could. (This show and Love Live)
