Our heroine (that never gets a name) is a total blank slate. She barely shows any emotion beyond vacant smiles and utter confusion. Yes, we get it, you have no idea what's going on, so you can be confused sometimes, but there's a point at which I would hope most people can get their act together to actually figure out what's going on, and possibly attempt to do something about it. Because of her vapid existence that consists only of aforementioned expressions and a handful of interchangeable responses (yes, no, thank you, are you okay? why?) she makes no effort to communicate at all, doesn't ever ask questions like, "Hey, where do you think we stand in our relationship?" or "What's your favourite memory of us together?" or literally anything else that would give her a clue to her lost memories, how she should be acting, who is even in that world, etc. It's basically 5 people talking at her. They might as well talk to themselves in the mirror, because their reflection would be more responsive than her.

She doesn't even cry when Ukyou is dying in front of her after telling her all about how he made a wish to save her life and died countless times so she could live, killed her so many times because he lost his goddamn marbles after dying numerous times in myriad terrifying ways, was tormented by regret for killing her, and he went through all of this out of love for her, because he just wanted her to live and be happy. There is no way Orion could be attached to her soul, because she clearly demonstrates she doesn't have one. I don't even think I saw her blush once at any point in the story.
As a character that is meant to be a vessel for the viewer, it's pretty hard to sympathise with a robotic wax doll. There was no obvious character growth. She didn't have any revelations about herself, she was just a static, flat, empty shell of a human right up to the end. She maybe discovered the power of friendship with Orion. Maybe.

About the various worlds, I have to say Toma drugging her and locking her in a cage "out of love" is pretty far-fetched, even for a show about a girl universe-hopping with a fairy attached to her soul. Also disturbing, and seemingly out of character compared to the other times we see him in other worlds. All the mains seemed quite consistent throughout the worlds (excepting Ukyou, of course), so it's odd to me that he suddenly got crazy for one.
The biggest problem I have with the plot however, is the complete lack of development for all of them, and the (logical) irrelevance of all of them once Ukyou explains why things are happening the way they are. Not only are all plots unsatisfyingly shallow, but Ukyou reveals at the end that he is the original Ukyou from the original reality and, if we're going to be logical about things, if she is given the "choice" to return to her original reality, she can't really make any other decision other than Ukyou. Considering the amount of time she had to get to know each guy, I don't think she could feasibly make any other choice, and they would all be quite anticlimactic choices. Toma is out because of the weird abuse (though to be fair, he was completely right about telling her to stay inside because bad things would happen, and she was too stupid to listen to him, which also means she was too stupid to avoid the dangerous situations on her own >:S .) Now under that premise, we might exclude Ukyou, too, but if we attribute his split personality to the magic BS going on and not something pre-existing, then he's still in the running. The rest of them have no major points against them, however, none of them wished so hard that she wasn't dead that a spirit granted his wish and brought her back to life. The happiest ending in my opinion would be for her to realize that Ukyou loves her literally to death, and go, "Well, sounds like the real deal to me!" and return to him. That would be nice.
Honestly, even though the plot technically resolved itself, it really didn't. We basically get an explanation for what's been going on the whole time, but the plot itself is so weak that leaving us with her standing at the end considering which reality she's going to choose doesn't give us any closure. The conflict is she's lost her memory and trying to get back to the correct reality, right? Well, we don't get to see her choose. We don't get to understand her memories, she never realizes her love for anyone. It's just a big, open-ended cliffhanger on something that took about 11 episodes to make sense. After all the attempt at building up to the end of it, it just kind of trails off and says, in a whispery, pseudo-emotionally-provocative voice, "It's up to you to decide~" like it's some kind of fantastic gift they've given us by not ending it, reinforced by her little "knowing smile" at the end. The plot tried to be intelligent, but it just ended up being subpar. I could seriously write a novel about the changes I would make.
Her stupid foreshadowing visions at the beginning didn't really turn into anything, either. It didn't exactly help her figure anything out, she didn't actively try to avoid or cause any situation that she foresaw, and she didn't really seem to understand the visions or make an effort to understand them.
Essentially, everything about this anime is aggravating, aside from the very high quality art and voice acting (excluding Heroine, not that she has a lot of lines, anyway.) I loved the style, and the visuals were basically the only reason I watched it. Even then, I thought the outfits were pretty over the top (particularly Kent's, it just looked dumb on him. For someone with such a logical personality, you would think he'd find having 78098495 buckles on his coat extremely illogical. Also Shin's one-red-one-black boots.) and that kind of detracted from the aesthetic.
I do not recommend this unless you just want to look at something pretty for 6 hours of your life. Watch Kokoro Connect instead, or even Hiiro no Kakera.
