AMNESIA

On the upside, the art was gorgeous, from the clothes design to the unique tints of the eyes, and both the OP and ED were great. That being said, after watching such a cool opening, the episodes themselves were disappointing.

Heroine (who doesn't, for some reason, have a name, so I'm gonna go ahead and christen her Mary Sue), is a goldfish for the entire show. I understand that she's lost her memories, but that doesn't mean she has to act like a doormat. Here, she had five guys pouring out their hearts to her, and she's just in a state of perpetual listlessness the whole way through, and I still have no idea how she managed to get through every day without her memories with everyone none the wiser.

As for the guys, I think I had a ragefest with all of them apart from Kent and Ukyo. Kent was adorkable and he should have had more than one episode, and Ukyo's story had SO MUCH FEELS, but Ikki made me rage until I found out about his back story, but by then I'd gotten so angry about his stupid fan club, that he left a bad taste in my mouth all the way through to Toma's route. And TOMA WHAT THE HELL. He puts Mary Sue in a CAGE and almost goes into rape mode when Mary Sue finally does what she should have done ages ago and gets the hell away from him, but, hey, it's all fine because she's a goldfish so she stays put like a good little Mary Sue, and is like, it's okay, I know you did it because you cared for me~ :(>A<): At this point, I wasn't sure whether I was meant to be more angry at Toma for acting like a rapist, or Mary Sue for being a doormat. Shin was actually okay, but he was so inconsistent whenever he turned up, so I couldn't figure out if he was a selfish little brat with an inferiority complex, or a cute tsundere who genuinely cared about Mary Sue's feelings, or lack thereof.

Unfortunately, I was so busy raging most of the time, I couldn't really pay much attention to the music, but I liked what I heard when I was paying attention, and, as I said, the artwork is stunning. I love the concept of Amnesia, but I wish it could have been pulled off better and with further character development. Admittedly, I found Orion adorable, and Waka was a jewel of a character, but brain-dead goldfishes got irritating after a while.

Throughout this world you'll meet people who watch anime and completely destroy the anime in an avalanche of stupidity and would also make up stupid and irrelevant things to try to get people to not watch this amazing show , most to all of the time, the things they say about this anime are debatable. This anime was a true master piece to me, because it would take you on this psychological joy ride that would " rape your mind " . This anime has many different and unique characters that usually have there own personal thing/ story to them that makes them completely different and gives you this sense of attraction towards the anime . Even the name "Amnesia" has this thing that automatically hooks you or catches your attention and brings you towards the anime.This anime, from the beginning to the end, makes you dread waiting a whole week before the new episode comes out. Also, with the many plot twist and unique upbringing of the new character this anime leaves you wanting more every week. This anime had this thing about it that makes you LOVE IT.This anime had so many outstanding romantic scenes that would make me jump with joy. This anime also made me jump out of my chair and yell "NOOOOOO" or "YESSSSS" and sometime even "what just happened??". The heroine, whom's name was never introduce has this plainness yet lovableness that made me fall deeper in love with this anime. every minute was a true masterpiece with its incredible art style, amazing character and unique plots and twist........ I FREAKING LOVE THIS ANIME! :S aha.... the ending was also very good aha, but was totally mind boggling. i HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ANIME. 5 billion stars for sure !

finally, this was my first review so i hoped this helped a lot ! WATCH THIS ANIME IF YOUR A HUGE ANIME FAN LIKE ME .. yeah..

Overall the show is good for a anime based off a visual novel. But it's a below average show there's nothing really that special about it and "The Heroine" (Yup that's the main female leads name) is about as bland as a blank page I know she is the person you played as originally and kinda is suppose to be plain but please at least give her some kind of personality or at least the skills to string simple sentences together no really "The Heroine" main words are "umm no" "Yes" "I don't know/remember" and Greetings and that's about as good as it gets.

The love interests can more or less be described in one word really, we got the childhood friend, the playboy, the smart one, the over protective one and there's another one but I won't spoil him. Plus they all dress ridiculously, I mean they all dress like rejects from The Nightmare Before Christmas, I mean they all just look out of place.

Overall Amnesia had an interesting concept but simply ruined it by focusing on all the love interests countless world line skips. Where just when you where getting into a character and "The Heroine" became to actually speak BOOM! your in a new world line It's just a bad adaptation exucated terribly.

I won't spoil it but I just say the ending is a major cop out in my opinion.

In the beginning of this anime I personally did not see it as all that good. I didn't know how the hell they were going to pull off making this anime the least bit exciting in any way possibly and to be honest i dropped it for a bit. When I started watching again and got caught up to speed i realized that the anime starts to explain itself right after the first scenario. From there it introduces characters with really cool personalities as well as individual looks. The character development is also astounding in this anime as we see the girl who barely knows how to communicate with people go to quickly adapting to what other people see her as. This anime always has you asking the question "Sooo... Who is the person she will end up with???" and also choosing sides with which character you like most. It certainly is confusing, but i see now that this is the feeling the writers want you to have, as if you know just as much as the main character.

When I first set my sight on this show I thought it was a bit strange but I kept watching it because it was so diffrent from other shows and thats wonderful. This show is amazing people are stupid if they think this show is lame. Amnesia is one of the most mind blowing, make me think twice, mind bobbling type of show and this never happened to me before so this was the first and always be the first show that made my mind explode of joy. I want the girl to end up with all the guys since they are all too sweet and kind to her in there own silly way.

i so want more episodes. ive seen sum ppl sayy this is confusing, but it's really not!!! now u need to watch every ep or ur going to b lost, but thats part of the draw!!! i hate when watching an anime u get so bored w it u can start doing sumthing else come back n u haven't missed a thing. also um...u grls may want to watch it just for the eye candy, seriously....yum yum yum, n there's 1 for any taste!!! i just hate that this doesn't have enough ep's, they really could have done more w the storyline romances!!!

Lemme start off by saying that this anime doesn't appeal to everyone but that doesn't make it bad. First off the story is NOT confusing AT ALL. The heroine wakes up with no memories of her past at the very start until she supposedly "dies" for the first time. Than wakes up again in a different world trying to find her true self,memories, and her feelings in these worlds.The story is also very well paced as all the characters have different stories and experiences with the heroine making each character special in their own way.The voice acting is AMAZING as well, showing how and what the characters are feeling through how they speak. FINALLY the artwork is just gorgeous and very unique and unlike any others. With that said i feel like this is a must watch if you are into suspense or just like the anime for what it is.

Until I looked up the Visual Novel it's based on, I barely understood anything that went on in this anime. Sure, I understood the basic plot, and that it gave you heavy loads of pretty boy manservice - which I thoroughly enjoyed once I shut my brain off. I liked the colours and designs of the characters as well, as exaggerated as they were.

However, I don't think this is a good anime on its own. It could've been better if they gave us the character's backstories - which according to what I've read from the Visual Novel is pretty good and detailed, but the length of the show (or perhaps the way it is set up?) doesn't seem to allow that. In fact, if I hadn't looked up the Visual Novels, I wouldn't have cared about this anime enough to write a review about it.

And so, the number one thing that brings my rating down - the protagonist. I will not even try to relate to someone who has the same personality, common sense and ability to react as that of a brick wall. A pretty brick wall, mind you, but that's all there is to her. I don't understand why the other characters don't react to it more, as it's indicated that she had some sort of personality traits before the amnesia. And... what was her name again?
Now, from what I've read, the protagonist of the Visual Novel had a similar problem, but that would've been the anime's perfect time to shine, and give her more than just her pretty face.

I suppose I'm more frustrated with this anime than anything. Let me put it this way - as much as I say I don't like the anime as a whole, I still have a folder full of Amnesia pictures on my computer, and on my phone.

I'm getting the idea you'll enjoy this if you are happy to stay for the bishounen or the art, and there's nothing wrong with that.

The visuals are quite interesting, they're more or less the only reason why I watch this anime every now and then - they're really over the top, and can sometimes be too much, but in general they're pleasing to the eye. A lot of the animations are done really well, the backgrounds are simply filtered photos (mostly the exteriors, the interiors look like they're drawn over a 3D base at most) a lot of the time but it's done well enough that it's barely noticeable as they fit in really well.
The music also helps in giving an interesting atmosphere and compliments the art well enough.

The story and the characterisation, however, are lacking. I would have never thought I'd say this, as I enjoy slower-paced stories, but... this is really way too slow-paced, and still that's not a good way to put it: there's barely any story there, and the few events that do happen shouldn't occupy so many episodes. Yet, an anime could get away with fewer events than the ones narrated in the 11 episodes that I've seen, but only if the characters' thoughts and motivations were interesting enough - this is not the case for any of the characters so far; the reason, I think, is due to its VN roots.

This kind of media relies on immersion and identification with the main character, which is often faceless or has very few peculiar traits so that the player can project their own personality on them. In this case they went so far as to not give the heroine a name or memories, which probably works well for a VN, not so much for an anime.

The male characters are a collection of sometimes distressing personalities - they probably work very well for fantasy self-fulfilment, but Try to strip all of them of their glamorous appearance and tell me you'd really be interested in them, still.

I would like to believe that the mystery around the reason why the protagonist is in the situation she is in will be solved in an interesting way and will take a good portion of the story but considering that 11 episodes were spent mostly on introducing the guys and barely touching on the overarching plot I'm afraid the series won't suddenly do a 360 and spontaneously develop a story.

Too bad, because the premise could have been developed in an interesting way and the visuals are indeed worthy of praise.

[Edit] I've actually seen the end and I'll say that the authors managed to work out the ending better than I'd have expected in a single episode - while of the reasons as to why things came to be are a bit far fetched I didn't feel as disappointed as I did with other anime adaptations of an Otome game. It would have been nicer if the explanations hadn't been relegated to a single episode, but I enjoyed my guilty pleasure all the same. :-)
