Blue Exorcist

The following is a first look at the series Blue Exorcist from my blog Ultimateotaku.com

Summery

Humans live in the world of Assiah, demons in Gehenna. The two dimensions are not meant to interfere with each other, but demons still possess creatures in Assiah in spite of this. The humans who can fight these demons are known as exorcists. Rin Okumura is a boy who bears the curse of being Satan’s illegitimate son. His foster father sacrificed himself to save him from demons. To avenge his foster father’s death as well as to prove himself, Rin decides to follow the path of an exorcist.

First Look

I’ll say it outright in general here, I am a Christian. A lot of anime nowadays seems really Anti-Christan like in SnO were they portray God as being the bad guy, one of the only things I hate about the show. Blue Exorcist seems to be a complete 180 of that. Being a Pro-Christan anime I had to give it a look.

The first episode ends with Rin, ( played by Nobuhiko Okamoto who also voices Usui in Kaichō wa Maid-sama! and Yorito from Sola ) finding out he is the Lucifer’s son. The reason Lucifer bore a son is because no human is strong enough to contain his essence for very long, so he gave birth to Rin to be his container on Earth. This is not to Rin’s liking so he decides to fight his father and fate and by becoming an Exorcist, a very good idea for a plot. The characters seem likable enough with Rin being a good-for-nothing slacker, and his twin brother a very successful overachiever who wants to be a doctor.

The anime has a comedic tone to it, like when Rin is trying to explain away his scratches and bloody nose from a fight, he says he tripped down some stairs into a sexy girl and got a nosebleed, although it also seems like its going to be very action based.

A thng I don’t particuarly like is how the majority of the demons seem to be drawn. In my opinion demons should look like the hooded things from the song “Hellfire” not scribbles out of my math notebook, but I digress.

The series seems very good so far, and I think I’ll have to stick with it. This anime is a contender for my favorite anime of the spring line-up for sure. So is it worth watching? I’ll say yes. And hey if my First Look doesn’t convince ya, maybe the fact that it was #3 on the New York Times best selling manga list might.

This anime is freaking awesome. For the person that said there's a PSP game coming out as well as a movie, I can't wait! I watched this show almost every day, and I'd watch it again. Please, do Aniplex and I a favor and WATCH THIS SHOW!

I never write a review... seriously... NEVER! This is my first review and i'm writing this because this series is incredible. The Manga is amazing and still ongoing. After episode 16 or so it doesn't follow the plot of the manga and goes off on its own. Its still very good.

A Psp game of this has recently been released in Japan and a movie is coming out later this year! It is an ongoing series! The characters are great! Izumo is one of my favourites, you don't see why i like her in this as much as in the manga. Please read it!

The author's art is incredible and its the only volumes i have bought all of so far of any manga and read them all in 2 days! Kazue Kato is an incredible mangaka but isn't well known enough.

Blue Exorcist is a colorful anime. Meaning it has not only beautiful graphics, but also variety of unexpected events and "sides" of characters.

The anime centers around two brothers - the older one who inherited the power of Devil himself, Rin Okumura, and the little one who seems to be another quite citizen, Yukio Okumura. Both of them were adopted by a very powerful exorcist, Shiro Fujimoto, who tried to raise them as good as he could.

However, one day a certain guest visits Shiro's church and boys' lives take another, adventurous direction. I really don't want to give any spoilers, because Blue Exorcist has surprises for you right from the beginning.

All I can add that it has a lot of comedy along with action. I can't tell that these genres are combined as perfectly as in Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler); however, this fact doesn't really make the anime less entertaining.

So, if you are into fights between humans and demons, don't waste your time searching for a better series. Blue Exorcist is great!

If you are looking for a comedic, dramatic, and filled with combat anime, then you've found it! Blue Exorcist is all of those, and more. It was oddly able to fill out such genres, and it even added its own type of religious fiction and nonfiction. It was pretty cool, and I loved it. Although I didn't give 5 stars to all of the criteria above, that doesn't mean that I didn't like it. In fact, I love this anime. Throughout watching the series though, I felt like the meetings of the characters was a bit repetitive. But it is okay, since all of the characters are so diverse and have their own personalities and goals. Also, I wished that there was a bit more combat throughout the series. That is not to say that there isn't combat in this series; there is! And there's lots of it. There is just so much in this series; I love it. I just finished the last episode, and I liked it so much that I'm writing this review! This is one of the top 3 anime series that are my favorite. Watch it, you will not regret it!

The plot line and characters were very well developed, though the ending does that typical anime semi-cliffhanger thing that makes you want to ask for more. The plot really stuck with me and the concepts were very original. Worth watching. One thing I missed out though was I hadn't realized there were cutscenes at the end of the credits that weren't previews for the next episode, but were actually part of the plot. I had missed them because i hate watching the previews for the next episodes, I feel as though it ruins the plot a bit for me so I skipped through the end without realizing it.

this is the first time i watched it and so it been torning out to be a great show every time i watched it and i bet the people really love the show since it is so awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! i can't wait to see the new epsoides on the show. i searsley thought it was boring but it wasen't really.

As an Otaku and all there has been many shows here and there that are for fun and that but this show really cuts into religious matter in my opinion and you never really get Saten much at all in animes. and the story is great and quite amazing how some of the characters undergo changes and of course secrets revealed about them. I wonder if in the next season that they would actually use God that would cause some uproar specially for those who are religious. overall its a great show with action and a nice storyline so for fans of action and exorcism please enjoy this ^^

this was probably on of the best Anime i've ever seen. Great story, great characters and awesome intro music. The thing that i would change, if i could, about this Anime is that it needed another 400 episodes (over exaggerated, but you know exactley what im talkin about if you've seen it.) and some more OVA. Other then that, it was time well wasted.

This hole story is all about two brothers half demon and half human well in the first episode Rin doesent know all about the exorcist but his twin brother does and his name is Yukio while he thinks about his future he doesnt know what to do as his brother helps him. There father is satan which is not normal(watch the series to find out next, but make sure to watch the first episode).
