Chemistry

Chemistry started in March 2001 with their debut track Pieces of a Dream, not long after winning an Asayan TV show in 2000. And I guess you could say they had an alright debut. The track in question (as well as being quite awesome) was also the best selling track of the year for that year, selling 2 million over the year. Since, then they have been what you could consider quite popular. And no surprise.

All their music has a nice feel to it, which can easily be enjoyed whether you understand the language and what they're actually saying or not. Since then, two of they're notable tracks have been Let's Get Together Now, a collaboration track to celebrate the World Cup in 2002, and the recent merry-go-round, the ending theme to the third episode Gundam UC OVA.

The second one is one that will probably be of most interest to anime fans who don't particularly know of the band that well, as many would have watched the episode the song features in. And that song is actually one of my favorites by them. The guitars at the start are really nice, and I feel like the overall backing track compliments their voices well.

If your interested in some good music, I'd certainly ask to check these out.

I'm not the biggest fan of Chemistry but I still love their music. I'm like a lot of other fans. I found out about them while watching an anime and I'm honestly glad I gave the anime a try because I wouldn't have found such an awesome duo if I hadn't.
Chemistry consists of the members Yoshikuni Dochin and Kaname Kawabata. They've been in the music industry for a decade and their music is awesome. Their style of music is R&B and Pop and their songs have been used as openings and endings for a few Anime too. They have collaborated with a hand full of people, including Lena Park from South Korea and John Legend from America.
I don't know what it is but the music they come out with just makes you happy instantly. It would be hard to choose my favorite song from them but I think I like Almost in Love and the Japanese-Korean 2002 FIFA song Let's Get Together Now the most. Listening to them live just wows you. Just listening to them makes me understand how they are able to get such rankings on the Oricon chart with every one of their albums.
I vote two thumbs up for Chemistry and if you haven't listened to them yet, what the heck are you waiting for?!?! You're completely missing out!!!

I didn't think gundam unicorn could get better, and then chemistry stepped in. They were contacted by Bandai and they were asked to make a song for unicorn. The result was a very good song entitled "merry-go round." They are able to produce a sound that is not only enjoyable, but also easy on the ears. Time and again this duo has proved their vocal ability. There is no way around it. This is just a good band. If you already done so, do yourself a favor and play one of their songs.

CHEMISTRY, comprised of Dochin Yoshikuni and Kawabata Kaname, has been an permanent sound in the Japanese music industry for over a decade. From their first single, "Pieces of a Dream" to their latest music, the duo have constantly grown and refined their sound and style to become one of the leaders in Japanese mainstream music.

Currently celebrating their tenth year of activity, the duo has released a "best" album that they feel envelopes the history and the growth in their music and passion as CHEMISTRY. The duo has also had the opportunity to carry their music overseas at their first appearance in the American market at 'Otakon', an anime convention held in Baltimore.


As a fan of almost a decade, it is a great pleasure to see the duo hold strong in the relentless Japanese industry, and continue hearing their luxurious voice flow through the iPods. The vocals of CHEMISTRY allows them to partake in new styles, such as American R&B, Pop/ Rock, and, Dance, in such a way that it places no doubt in the listener that the genre that they sing could be unnatural to them. The true chemistry between the two and their vocals allows them to confidently sing each genre seamlessly. CHEMISTRY's ability to master different genres is a wonderful gift to to fans and listeners.

I wholeheartedly congratulate CHEMISTRY on their first decade of success and wish them another decade of great success and future endeavours.

Before this I had never heard of Chemistry as I have just recently gotten into J-music and I must honestly say that the music was really good. They say that music has no language, no color, no distance, no boundaries and in this case that rings true. They compliment each others style well and the harmonies are on point. If they ever were to come preform where I am I would love to watch them in action. Although they have been in the bis for 10 yrs its nice to see how humble they are and how we in the states should be the ones humbled that such a great group wants to come here and share their talent with us.

A successful j-pop (japanese pop) band, which began releasing in 2001, Chemistry is made up of Yoshikuni Dochin and Kaname Kawabata. After 10 years together, the band is has released a collection of their best songs over the years to celebrate their formation and continued success. Including various chart-topping songs, Chemistry 2001-2011 is sure to please any fan of Chemistry music, whether familiar with most of their music, or only that which is used in various anime series. In a recent interview, they stated their aspirations to do more shows for their American audiences, so those of you in the U.S., keep your eyes peeled for the possibility of Chemistry doing some shows in the future.

I remember growing up and every Friday after there was a local channel around my area that would play Japanese pop and r&b for an hour. one of those Fridays I heard a song which blew my mine, it actually made me sit and listen and even try too sing along. the song that amazed me was Chemistry's first album single "Pieces of a Dream". after that moment I start to keep tabs on chemistry.
Every single from there first too now which the current single is "Merry-go-round" Ive been a fan, there music isn't like other JPop/ R&B groups. Chemistry actually has soul, the harmony that Yoshikuni Dochin and Kaname Kawabata share during there songs are unlike any other song heard in other Jpop/R&B groups, there sounds is not forgettable at all. the top Ten songs Id recommend for any level of chemistry fan would be as follows:

1.) "Pieces of a Dream"- a unforgettable song which is there first debut single, this song show how strong there voices where at that point.

2.) "Point of No Return"- one of my personal favorites, this song's video really does this song justice, this song has a JR&B song feel too it which I always loved

3.) "Floatin'"- has an excellent futuristic sound, the lyrics in this song to are pretty well written, any chemistry fan would know about this song.

4.) "This Night"- another one of chemistry's song that its video did it justice, a song about getting over your lover/ breaking up. I remember when this single came out, I played it on repeat for a couple of months lol.

5.) "Yakusoku no Basho"- Not a popular song by chemistry fans but the lyrics are will stay in your head for a long time and i mean a" long time". the song is very preppy and upbeat.

6.) "Wings of Words"- If I had to explain this song in one word, the word I would use would be "powerful". both Yoshikuni and Kaname really show there singing ability, this song was use in the opening of gundam seed destiny (opening 4)

7.) "Kimi o Sagashiteta (New Jersey United)"- My second favorite song, amongst fans this song is also called the wedding song because it is a wedding song. this song will make anyone in love cry. I recommend this song be played at weddings, if I ever get married I'm going too use this song.

8.) "You Go Your Way"- a very uplifting song, this single is just simply amazing as any chemistry fan can tell you there ballads are one of a kind. the slower the song the more you hear there voice shine, this song shows that completely

9.) "Period"- A fan favorite amongst anime lovers since this was the 4Th op for "full metal alchemist brotherhood'. In my opinion this song is not my favorite of the group because the style they put into this song took away from there usual R&B soul sound but all and all its a good song cause it gets a lot of attention from the new fans.

10.) "merry-go-round"- A great song,I must admit I didn't really like the direction of sounds they where trying too convey but after hearing it a couple times more, I got use too it and completely loved it. its also the ed for Gundam Unicorn movie 3
