    Something Different. New. Amazing.
I have nothing but praise for Chihayafuru. Honestly.
    No really.
At first I didn't even consider watching this anime because the art is different from regular animes such as Shugo Chara. I gave it a try because there were no animes that appealed to me but i really wanted to watch a new series. The first episode you're thinking: "Ok..the art is fine...I can get used to this..." and then ...

    Makes me wanna play!
I loved Chihaya Furu from beginning to end. I can't believe how into the kurata matches I became. I loved the animation. It was "soft," but fit the dreamlike state and mindset of the lead character, Chihaya, and her ability to pull people in. The writing is very good. The characters were written with great care and chemistry which was expressed exceptionally well by the actors. The only ...

Great for those wanting to learn more about Japanese culture.
Before Chihayafuru, Karuta was a game that was almost completely unknown outside of Japan. I typically stay away from shows like this, even if it's based on real games (ex. Hikaru no Go), but this show is different. I've watched the first 50 episodes that have been released to this point, and it looks like it may be another year or so before/if we get Chihayafuru 3 since the manga is not that far ...

A Truly Magnificent piece of work
My first impressions about this anime were very similar to everyone else's; I assumed it was going to be a boring story about a girl and a bunch of cards. The plot didn't seem to me like something that would be able to grasp my attention. But it amazed me after I watched the show, to what degree I was proven wrong.

This show is just magnificent- no other words can honestly describe it.

    The ...

    A thought on Chihayafuru
I have had a deep love of anime since I watched Princess Mononoke for the very first time when I was around 10 years old, followed immediately by Evangelion which I wasn't even able to conceptualize at that age but still had an awe for.

Over the many following years, I have watched anime that have popped up or snatched my interest until recently when I've begun to take interest in not only ...

    Truly One of the Best
Who would've thought that watching an anime about a card game could be so great
Chihayafuru is charming and pleasantly heartfelt. What I love about the series besides the fantastic characters is how the storyline unfolds perfectly. There's emphasis on how the characters develop into genuinely interesting and unique personalities. It keeps you in suspense as the characters' romantic overtones and ...

Excellent series! I love Chihayafuru. :3
I fell in love with this series in the first few episodes.
This series is cheesy, girly, emotional, dramatic, all the good stuff that can make you cry. The music selection is not a huge one but they use them at the perfect times to pull on your hearts' strings.

Later in the series, some of it can feel repetitive and the characters don't make much development (Especially episode 16 which you ...

    Strong Beginnings - Great Characters
The first couple of episodes to Chihayafuru have been beautifully solid and I intend to see this series through.

The artwork is lovely, particularly the character designs. The relationships between the main characters and their background stories are relatable and very human. You can really lose yourself in an episode thanks to the steady pace of the storyline.

    The introduction to ...

A Masterpiece (in my humble opinion)
Chihayafuru is a beautifully drawn, somewhat slower paced, slice-of-life/sports fusion anime. Centering around the competitive card game Karuta, the show skillfully depicts the characters and their changing relationships to both Karuta and each other. The contrast between the main characters' younger and present day selves, and the maturity with which the show treats them provides a character ...
