A Unique and Telling Twist on Our Own Modern Relationships
There is a great deal of depth to this anime, far beyond the surface level cries of 'sexual exploitation' that some are spouting. The society depicted in this anime mirrors our own in a few unique ways. For one, I do not look at the process of piloting the FRANXX as 'male dominance'. The themes evident here are immediately sexual. As such, the male-female duo is not unlike the act of procreation ...

    Hidden Beneath The Innuendos
So far only two episodes are out and this is what i understand of the show.

The show is a giant metaphor about relationships, sex, and intimacy. The robot is something symbolic of the relationship between the people controlling it, two people who can manage a good relationship are able to control it well and trust in each other. This can be further observed with the societal and parental ...

Written in Response to Episode 1 - It is worth a watch
What a strong debut! The show is like Kill La Kill, Gundam 00, and Gurren Lagann all had a baby together, which for me is awesome because it combines concepts from series that I love. Studio Trigger is back in top form with this new mecha anime. It feels like the true successor to both Kill La Kill and Gurren Lagann. I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. The animation is top notch and the fight ...

After episode 13 This show Is in my all time favortis.
This show has a very slow build up exploring relations ships and what it means to be human in a world where humans have stripped themselves of humanity. Kids raised more like machines than people struggle to understand how to relate to each other.

World building Is slow and gradual but almost every episode, You get a new puzzle piece of the bigger picture, Prepare to take a while to start ...

Don't be turned off. Be turned on.
I will admit by the second episode all of the sexual innuendos had me feeling rather uncomfortable in terms of the focus for this series. At this point in the series Im starting to get the feel of whats going on and rather than cringe I feel myself accepting all the sexual references as part of the art style/aesthetic. I was worried that the show would rely on its sexual nature too much and start ...

I like it a lot, enough to re-watch multiple times!
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes (all that is available ATM). So much so that I re-watched them multiply times which is pretty out of character for me as I normally can't be bothered to watch something more than once. Darling in the FranXX is a solid ace for me.

    A dash of everything
As of the first hour of so of content I can say with a good amount of confidence that this is well worth watching. It does very well at introducing its characters and world without giving you too little or too much.Basically, do yourself a favor and just watch it, your brain will thank you later.
    ----Possible Spoilers Past This Point---
Is it original? As it is with any series, debatable. The ...

Like others have said, past the innuendos is something truly enjoyable!
I'm going to have to say from the get go that I am a Trigger fan, Kill la Kill was a blast and considering that some of the staff worked on, one of my favorites anime of all time, Gurren Lagann you could say I'm a little biased, but I felt the mighty need to support an original project by this studio!

The opening and ending are pretty good in my opinion, although some might find it otherwise, ...

    A Profoundly Beautiful Dumpster Fire
    TL;DR
A frakenstein monster of Trigger shows and popular anime tropes stapled together with the word PROCREATE and poor writing.

How do I sum up Darling in the Franxx? Where do I start? Do I address the large cast of characters that get spread across the entire series, even though 95% of them are essentially useless? Do I address the lackluster "Mecha" battles that end just as fast as they ...

After the fourth episode. YES WATCH NOW
Trigger has done it again. Seriously awesome. Their usual flair and lack of sanctity make this ride one I plan on enjoying the whole way down.

Just get off whatever high horse you're on (metaphorical or otherwise) and allow yourself to like this. It's okay, no one will judge you.

That said, expect mecha action, interpersonal relationship conflict, and socio-religious critique we've all come ...
