Digimon Xros Wars - The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time

xros wars is definitely an enjoyable series to watch. while some parts go by under-explained (like specific mechanics of the digixrosing), it has many enjoyable moments and characters. The animation is surprisingly good (and get's even better as the series goes on), has great music, and well executed humor. while not a lot of characters develop, they are characterized very well and do play key roles even when they don't get development. Don't worry though, there are characters that get very strong development and are very fun to follow.
while the season does repeat the same process every few episodes in achieving a small goal(usually 3 episode mini-arcs, it rarely drags's and more often than not will throw curveball's to change how each mini-arch follows through in achieving a goal or how long each mini-arch will last.
My main criticism is that that while character's do develop, many aren't given many episodes to do so. the main protagonist Taiki(mikey in the upcoming dub) for example is only given about 7 or 8 episodes within the primary 54 episodes and they don't bridge across the series too well. luckily his characterization as being extremely kind is a theme in the series that many characters admire very much. another example is the character of sparrowmon. while he's characterized and developed very well in the first arc, he's barely given instances to shine in the second. Some mini-arc's do drag when both share a similar formula (the honeyland arc with the cyberland arc) but it often keeps a strong momentum.
in the end,I can at least say the character's had a lot of personality and are very enjoyable to watch. while it's doesn't achieve adventure's development of 8 or so characters, as well as Tamer's nearly perfect development, it stand's on it's own for at least having terrific characterization in each episode, whether it be for the humor or the serious moments. it doesn't have the obnoxious plot holes like 02, there is no padding or dull moment's like frontier, and certainly none of the characters come off as bland as the one's in data squad (it's just my option though).

I won't include a description on young hunter's in this review because young hunter's, let's just say is essentially...very very wasted potential. Go watch xros wars/fusion and expect to be extremely entertained. Let's just hope the dub has the same ambition as the data squad dub when staying close to the script, and that the dub at least keep some of the music.

To me i thought it was a well built series, but there were some points where it felt rushed and nobody understood what was happening. I enjoyed the fact that they in the end brang everyone together for one last battle and an ending, but that was also rushed i felt that their were some parts in the series that needed a bit more "umph" as in power or action. It just felt like a regular day, but digimon is unique in its own ways. I've been a Digimon fan ever since i was atleast 5 and this final season has just put quite an impact on me, i enjoyed it much better than pokemon to be honest. But i hope the creators come to their senses and come up with one last season to end it off, just for the fans and not for the money. man it hurts that it's over because i have nothing left, pokemon has changed way to much and is now aimed for the ages of 10 and under, but digimon was aimed for all ages, it just made it seem more realistic. creators great job on all the digimon series i hope you come out with more. -Andy Chea

Now I'm not a true diehard fan of digimon. I dont go absolutely crazy fangasm when I see the first and third seasons which have been my favorite seasons for a long while. Xros Wars pretty much changed all that and is now my favorite season of digimon for a number of reasons. The music is great. For just one example, Never Give Up by Sonar Pocket is probably my most favorte digimon intro song ever. The characters are plentiful and interesting with the main character Taiki being perhaps the best gogglehead sense Takato. The plot is hit or miss but the character interactions are interesting which makes you get into the story more just to see what happens to the characters. Overall I'd have to highly HIGHLY recommend you watch the first two seasons of Xros Wars.

Now, if it were only the first two season I'd be giving this a perfect score but unfortuately Xros wars is a cash cow so they had to milk it for all it was worth. Hunters takes place a year after the second season and we're introduced to the hyperactive but stagnant new main character Tagiu and his partner Gumdramon. The music is still interesting with Tagiru Chikara and Stand Up being my two most favorite pieces to come out of this season. Unfortunately that's where the praise ends and the negativity begins. The old characters have been completely shafted for the new characters and the new characters are nothing to write home about. I mentioned Tagiru being stagnant and I couldn't be more right about that. Throughout the entire season there is absolutely no character development in him. You seen him in the first episode you seen him in the last episode. Gumdramon is the only new character in the season to get some form of character development. The plot is rather short and uninteresting. About 75% of the season is filler with most of it being tagiru getting a new digimon that we'll never see again.

I should note that the original goggleheads make a return in this season but you only see them in 4 episodes. The first just introduces them at the end, the second has Taichi and Masaru (Tai and Marcus for those english speakers out there) the third has them all coming back in all their glory (I loved every second of that btw) and the forth episode featuring the goggleheads litterally has them in limbo for most of the episode.

In conclusion Xros wars is great for the first two seasons. The characters are interesting, the music is great, though the plot can be hit or miss at some points. The third season is the weak point of the series with good music but an uninteresting plot and uninteresting new characters. I highly recommend watching the first two seasons. I'll leave it to whoever reads this to watch the third season or not. You might get a kick out of it from seeing the goggleheads coming back.

I am a diehard Digimon fan and I really liked this series. The first half didn't have too much filler but the second half was stuffed with it. However, I liked the filler since they included Digimon from past seasons.
The characters were likable and the plot was solid. Also, in my opinion, one of the better endings. I'd recommend it if you're a Digimon fan already! (And I also wouldn't recommend watching it if you're new to Digimon. Watch the other seasons first!)
I also feel that there were a lot of sexual/religious/evil references and parts of the character designs that will be edited out once this is dubbed, so watch the sub if you like seeing the original versions of a series.

This Digimon series is awesome with plenty of action and plot twists. The new method of Digivolving, Digi-Xros, while reminiscent of the DNA Digivolving used in the second Digimon series, is original in its merging of multiple digimon led by the same person. You also get to see how each of the main characters grow and mature throughout the current series. My only regret with this series is that they did not continue with a truely consistent plot when Tagiru was introduced. At this point, it feels more like a bunch of stories were strung together in an attempt to make something cohesive. Therefore, I can only recommend only watching up until episode 55. The rest of the series should just be skipped because its only redeeming quality is the bringing of the digimon and humans from the several previous Digimon series, and even that could have been done better.
