A fantasy centered around a young girl
Are you a fan of Serei no Moribito? Are you also interested in fantasy with a slice of life kind of feel to it? Well, you don't have to look any further. This story revolves around a young girl call Erin. Her life is split so far into chapters of her life. From episodes 1 to 10, she grew up in a small village with her mother who is a Touda vet. But her life changed the summer of her tenth year. ...

Don't let the cute girl and the title deceive you
I've had the pleasure of being able to really explore this title and while I was expecting some sort of cutesy nice girl anime, and it does have those moments, what I got instead was an anime with so much depth, plot and heart. This series is full of political infighting, civil rights struggles, war, and all sorts of action while still being able to relay a very morally grounded message of ...

This might not be what you think
VDon's review is very good, but I'd like to add my own voice in support of this show. It's not magic girl, or action-packed, or all Mary Sue/Pollyanna cute girls winning everyone's hearts. It has a slice of life feel, and describes the ups and downs of the life of Erin, from the time she's a young girl until she grows to adulthood and becomes a beastmaster. Erin faces many harsh realities of ...

    Kemono No Souja Erin
A fantasy series written by Uehashi Nahoko (Seirei no Moribito) about a young woman who is drawn into a war between kingdoms. She has the ability to command animals, including dragons, as if she was playing a musical instrument.

Must watch for all anime lovers!!!!
when i first noticed this anime, i thought it would be an ok one, but after just a few episodes i was totally in love!!!! the main character is not one of those stupid-yet-everybody-loves-her or one of those clumsy-and-has-guys-tending-to-her-every-need-whether-she-notices-them-of-not girls. she is a strong willed kick but girl with a well built personality, and the creators didn't just ...

Wow! What a show! - my first 5 star review
Unlike many reviewers here on CR, it takes a lot for me to give a 5 star rating to a show. This show came very close to achieving a perfect score and is my highest rated review so far. VDon has done a great job of describing the setting and general plot outline of the series as part of his review, so I won't bother to rehash what the show is about. My job will be to point out WHY this show is so ...

Hurts so good, cheese & heart warming that keeps you watching.
    Hurting your main character.

As a story teller, it is one of the hardest things to do. We often grow attached to our creations and wish to see them succeed. We don't want them to suffer--everyone loves a perfect ending.

But can you sympathize with a character whose life is perfect?

Enter the masterful, often heart wrenching (and yes, some times sappy) story of Kemono no Souja ...

Review of Erin (The Beast Player)
Very touching series about a witty girl who had her family taken from her and rebuilds her life in the midst of a war in which she played an important role in. Erin follows in the foot steps of her mother and finds out how her mother really felt about the toudos. This series hit home and I could really relate to how Erin felt. I have to admit I cried alot ^^; But I found the intro song rather ...

A serious anime done with an "NHK touch"
I watched Time of Eve before this. I watched this with no subtitles. I watched episodes 1-19 in one day, took a break, and watched the rest in one go. I haven't read the original book series. Note that this anime deals with the first 2 of 4 books concerning this series.

    My summary.
An anime that displays the difficulty of life-long bondage and communication between all forms of life, through ...

    Well worth watching.
This series is a little slow to start developing. The initial 6 or so episodes area needed background to understand the story. If you are able to endure those initial episodes you enjoy very much the series.

The series has great music, deep characters and a very unique story line. Add to that the occasional fun character to make up a well rounded, entertaining and engaging series.
